While exploring the Netherworlds of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, players are bound to encounter several frustrating enemies, including Mitama. Unlike most demons scattered throughout the region, Mitama's appear in various forms and have randomized weaknesses, making them even harder to defeat.

Thankfully, the Mitamas have relatively low health, so as long as you target their weakness, you should be able to defeat them without any problems. The difficulty primarily comes from their randomness and their affinity to quickly escape from battle, so you will need to act quickly to reap the rewards for beating one.

How To Find Mitama's Weakness

Utilize Your Spyglass To Expose Weaknesses

As stated, the first chance a Mitama has to run from the fight, they will. Therefore, you will need to uncover their weakness immediately if you hope to defeat them before they run off. Unfortunately, there is no standard element that all Mitama's have a weakness for. Instead, their affinities are randomized every time you encounter this demon in SMT V: Vengeance, so you will essentially be guessing every time you fight one, and if you guess incorrectly, you'll likely lose them.

Thankfully, there is one way to get around this and ensure you can reveal their weakness right away. While shopping in Gustav's shop, you have likely encountered an item labeled Spyglass. The Nahobino can use this item on demons to reveal their affinities during a fight. After revealing the weakness, be sure to utilize your party to exploit this weakness since everything else will be blocked, and the Mitama will run at the end of your turn.

Exploit Weaknesses And Diversify Your Party

Perhaps the best thing to do when farming something with randomized weaknesses is to ensure you're ready for everything. Depending on how close you are to the end of SMT V: Vengeance, you may or may not have party with various attack types.

If you do, you will likely have no problem taking down the Mitama after the Nahobino reveals its weakness. If your party is more limited in of attacks, you will need to ensure you have a supply of items on hand.

Elemental Shards are available in Gutav's shop and can be acquired as a reward while fighting through the Netherworld. These shards are a great way to ensure you can deal with any damage needed.

However, only human allies and the Nahobino can use items early on, and since the Nahobino will likely use their turn on the Spyglass, it will be up to the rest of the party to finish them off. Additionally, Mitama will always take All Mighty or Pierce damage, but unless you're on the safety difficulty, this will likely not be enough to kill them.

If you don't have any human allies available to use the shards and none of your demons have an attack that will work, on every other companion's turn to allow the Nahobino to go one last time, where they can use the item or an attack.

Every Type Of Mitama & Rewards

Saki, Nigi, Ara & Kushi Mitama

You can encounter four different Mitama variants in the Netherworld while exploring, including Saki, Nigi, Ara, and Kushi. While all four of these types have the same general water droplet shape, they can be easily identified by their expressions and color.

Each variant of Mitama responds similarly in battle, with randomized affinities, but their rewards will differ. So, if you're looking to farm something specific in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, ensure that you are tracking down the correct type of Mitama. Otherwise, you will waste time, energy, and items.
