Blocking not only stops all communication between two s, but the blocked person is also removed from the person's friend list. After unblocking someone, s will once again have to manually add that person as a friend to restore all communications with them. Once someone has been unblocked and added as a friend again, that person can send the Snaps, chat with them, and view their Stories as before.

For s who are trying to add someone back as friend on Snapchat after unblocking them, there is one important point to note. Snapchat doesn't notify someone when they're blocked by another , but they will know that they were blocked when they receive a new friend request from someone they thought was already their friend on the platform. To avoid any awkwardness, Snapchat s can instead silence all notifications for any friend or group.

Snapchat s have the option to mute individual friends, mute group chats, and even mute friends’ Story posts. To stop receiving notifications when a particular sends a Snap, go to the Chat menu, press and hold on that ’s icon, then tap ‘Chat settings.’ There, s will see ‘Message notifications’ with a toggle button next to it. Toggle this off to silence that friend’s communications. Group chats can be muted the same way. To mute a person’s Stories, go to that same menu by pressing and holding the friend’s name, then select ‘Story Settings’ and tap the toggle button next to ‘Mute Story.’

By doing the above, the annoying person will remain on the friend list, and the Snapchat will still see their Snaps and chats, but without any of the accompanying notifications.
