Snow Angels, a new Comixology Unlimited Original title from the superstar creative team of Jeff Lemire and Jock, debuts this week. The book is the first time the two have collaborated and will debut on the Comixology Unlimited digital comic platform with a special zero issue on December 22 and a ten-part maxi-series to follow starting on February 16.

Both Lemire and Jock are known for their creator-owned work; Lemire has several such books to his name, including award winners such as Essex County, Sweet Tooth and Black Hammer, among others. Likewise, Jock worked with Scott Snyder on the Image title Wytches. The two have also done extensive work for mainstream publishers as well; Jock had notable runs on DC’s The Losers and Detective Comics as well as a slew of unforgettable covers. Lemire brought his unique style to Moon Knight and Hawkeye at Marvel, and Superboy at DC. And now the two have ed forces for the first time to bring readers the science fiction action series Snow Angels.

In a preview from io9, fans get their first look at the world of Snow Angels. The book tells the story of two young girls named Milliken and Mae who are part of a group called the Trenchfolk. These Trenchfolk have carved out lives for themselves inside the walls of an extremely large trench found on an icy world. The Trenchfolk do not stray too far from the walls due to a strict code that forbids them from leaving. They believe that leaving the walls leads to certain death. Milliken and Mae are thrust into an adventure that will force them to confront life beyond the trench and a world they may be too dangerous for them to handle. Jock’s art perfectly captures the harsh and frigid landscape they live in, giving readers a sense of the dangers that lie ahead. It all works to create a tantalizing glimpse into this fascinating world.
