No one person is alike in personality or actions, so, it's not easy to discern that two people think the same things or act in the same manner. This certainly applies to the show, Snowpiercer, which has introduced some amazing characters to its plot over the last 3 seasons.

Each character holds their own beliefs and understanding of the train and their ways of survival. However, if fans could pick one defining moment in their arcs, which one would stick out the best? While there is probably a ton of different opinions, many viewers would agree there are some scenes that perfectly summarize the character's personality as a whole.

Zarah Ferami:

I Could've Gone With My Mom. We Could've ed Your Brother, Died Together, Like People We ired Were Doing. But, Instead, You Made Me Live. For What? For The Hell Of The Tail?

A split image of Zarah looking serious in Snowpiercer

The wife of Andre Layton and one who has betrayed the Tail, Zarah Ferami is a selfish yet complicated character. She has always resented Andre for bringing her aboard Snowpiercer only to live in the Tail, cold and hungry (as she makes this clear in the quote above).

For Zarah, she would have rather died with their family in the Freeze, instead of enduring life as a Tailie. Her only chance to enjoy her life, in her mind, was to get up the train. To do this, she betrayed Layton and the people of the Tail in their first rebellion, leading to many lives lost.

Josie Wellstead:

You’d Think, With All We’ve Lost, Defeat Would Break Us. But The Only Reason We’re Here Is We Refuse To Die In The First Place.

A split image of Josie looking serious in Snowpiercer

Josie is a true Tailie through her heart and bravery. A character of resilience and hope, she places the care of others above herself.

In this quote, Josie speaks of the Tail's bravery in the face of death. Even with the death toll from the Freeze, the Tail’s determination to survive one world ceasing gives them the strength to survive what they may face on Snowpiercer.

Pike:

You Have No Friends LJ, And These Days, Someone With No Friends Is Poor, And That Makes Me Rich.

Pike is another complex character that fans don't know whether to root for or against. He has his faults and flaws, but he does stand for something and wants the Tailies to win.

Although he can be unlikeable at times, he has people that would fight alongside him to the death. With this knowledge, he lets LJ know that although he's not rich like her, he has friends that would lay down their lives for him, unlike her (which makes her low on the totem pole in the end).

Miss Audrey:

I See Now That As The Freeze Killed Everyone I Ever Knew, I Mistook My Ticket To Survival For Freedom.

A split image of Miss Audrey on the train in Snowpiercer

Miss Audrey is the woman everyone goes to for comfort and entertainment. She's in charge of the club on Snowpiercer, and is the on-off lover of Mr. Wilford.

Although she brings this comfort to everyone else, Audrey is struggling internally as well. This quote solidifies this struggle that she traded one doomed life under the guise that she was boarding the Snowpiercer to start a new and free life.

Bennett:

You Know When He Chooses You, You Enter His Core, It's Amazing At First. He's Amazing. Then The Knives Come Out. He Divides People For Sport. Melanie And I Refused To Let Him.

A split image of Snowpiercer's Bennett sitting in the engine room on the left and leaning against a wall on the right

Bennett has never changed in regards to his loyalty to Melanie. The train engineer has always been Melanie’s right hand, helping her in all her endeavors and keeping all of her secrets. Bennett, like Melanie, is aware of Wilford and his true personality.

Throughout some of Snowpiercer's best episodes from the first season, fans saw Bennett remind Melanie that she was nothing like Wilford in her actions. He understood that Wilford would only cause chaos and destruction to manipulate those around him under the veil of doing what's best for the train. This quote reinforces the choice to disconnect Big Alice from Snowpiercer to save the train and its people from Wilford.

Bess Till:

I Thought I'd Be Used To Death By Now. What Are Eight Lives Against The Seven Billion We Lost In The Freeze? But It's Different This Way. This Isn't The Cold, This Is Us.

A split image of Bess looking serious in Snowpiercer

Bess has always worn her heart on her sleeve, even when she tried to hide it best. She begins to see that, although they lost everything and everyone to the Freeze, that shouldn't have taken away the humanity of the people on the train.

In this quote, Bess acknowledges that because she's lost so much and seen so many die due to the end of the world. The deaths happening on the train shouldn't affect her the way they do, however, these deaths are coming at the hands of human beings and not a natural disaster.

LJ Folger:

The Universe Is Indifferent, Doesn’t Care About Our Stupid Little Plans Or Our Fragile Little Hearts. The Universe Has Its Own Plans For Us.

LJ in 1st class

The most dangerous on the Snowpiercer, LJ Folger does not hide her disdain of train life. She's responsible for the murders of season one because she became bored with her life in first class, and wanted to have a little fun.

LJ is probably the one character most like Mr. Wilford in her ways, which is why she’s so keen to have him lead the train. In this quote, she believes that no one can truly choose to be good or evil, it's the universe that decides that.

Mr.Wilford:

You Can't Sugarcoat The End Of The World, Melanie. Not Everything’s Going To Be Fine, But I Promise You, You Will Survive.

Wilford sits and grimaces on Snowpiercer.

Snowpiercer is a train that is 1,001 cars long and the saving grace for thousands that survived the end of the world. Sean Bean's Wilford saw Snowpiercer as his ticket to lead the new world, while Melanie saw this as her chance to save and rebuild the world. For Wilford, a dictatorship is what gets the job done.

Wilford saw Melanie as soft in her approach to leadership and discerns that wasn't brave enough to do what was necessary to lead. This quote bolsters Wilford’s idea that he knows not everyone will like him, yet, in his mind, he is the necessary evil to ensure everyone's survival....a true narcissist.

Alex Cavill:

At First, I Thought My Mom And Her People Were Stupid And Disorganized, But Now I Think Freedom Probably Has To Be Messy.

Alex looks taken aback on Snowpiercer.

Alex Cavill has always been under the thumb of Wilford and his guidance. Because of this, Alex saw her mother and the people of Snowpiercer as an entity unorganized and disorderly.

The fight for freedom on the Snowpiercer was something Alex had never undergone on Big Alice. Wilford’s strong dictatorship of Big Alice left no room for uprisings or freedom for equality. In this quote, Alex comes to the understanding that fighting for freedom needs to be messy.

Ruth Wardell:

I’ll Pay My Penance. You Can Have My Arm.

Ruth on Snowpiercer waiting by a door

Ruth Wardell is a character of poise and sophistication. She likes for things to have order and control, and thrives in being the person to take care of these things. She has all the attributes to lead, and fans see her take up this title at the beginning of season 3 with the absence of Andre on the Snowpiercer.

As a leader, she makes sure the resistance stays alive and well. Ruth knows the dangers that come along with being a leader and she’s ready to take on any threat that may come her way. In this quote, Ruth lets Mr. Wilford know that he can have her arm for her rebellion, but she regrets nothing.

Melanie Cavill:

I Thought I Could Strip Wilford Away. Shed His Rules, One By One. And Finally, His Mask. Until He Was Just A Logo On The Wall.

Melanie looking shocked in Snowpiercer

Jennifer Connelly’s role as Melanie is probably one of her best performances on television. Starting the first season off as the villain of the show, Melanie Cavill quickly became a protagonist as the second season came around.

Although she ruled under Wilford’s name, she lead by her actions and made her own rules to remove the stain of Wilford. In this quote, Melanie acknowledges why she kept up the ruse that Wilford was still onboard Snowpiercer and the purpose behind making herself the spokesperson for the train.

Andre Layton:

Do You Know How A Tailie Marks A ing? Together. No One Forgotten.

Andre sitting on a sofa smiling in Snowpiercer

Andre Layton is Snowpiercer. His vision and hope for the future are irable and heroic. Andre would willingly die for and he puts his life on the line multiple times for the people of the Tail.

This quote shows that although the Tailies boarded the train strangers, they have become a family that never leaves each other behind. When there is a loss of a Tailie, everyone comes together to honor their lives as one.
