With the third season in the books, viewers are reflecting on how the show is progressing, as well as ruminating on what the next season will hold. What are fans' thoughts on twists such as the return of a certain character courtesy of Dr. Headwood and more?

Everyone Dies In A Derailment

Snowpiercer Rides Through The Freeze

Season 3's finale brought more resolutions than some viewers thought might take place given the show is heading towards a Season 4. The biggest one is that the New Eden dream team train reached its destination, but not before a critical derailment.

Some fans have sought a deeper meaning in it, like Snowpiercer issue of life stuck on the train.

Season 4 Addition Of Agents Of S.H.E.I.L.D. Showrunner Is A Bad Idea

Snowpiercer Season 4 Daveed Diggs and Jennifer Connelly as Layton and Melanie and Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson

Fan assessment may be all over the place regarding how good season 3 was, but there's a lot of buzz around the addition of a new showrunner and new cast for season 4. There are plenty who love that Clark Gregg will be ing the cast and that Paul Zybyszewski will be the new showrunner, both from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Not everyone is thrilled with the idea, though. Some are worried that there will be too much of an AoS influence in Snowpiercer, such as general_Leo, who said that "the characters in AosS were soooo bland." Others agreed for their own reasons. It could be a sad turn for what is still an enthralling series.

Sacrificing Big Alice Unnecessarily

Snowpiercer Outside Big Alice

Another big topic of debate zeroed in on why it was decided to split the engines up as a way of proving whether or not New Eden actually had any real promise. While it certainly proved to be a season-closing twist to , was it logical?

As arrrrr_matey stated, to "sacrifice an irreplaceable engine and track cars with equipment" was too risky. It's true that there are other options that could've been employed to New Eden's existence, but that wouldn't have made for a nailbiter of a finale.

The Best Twist Neglects Wilford's Loyalty Lanterns

Snowpiercer Finale Wilford

Some things that nearly everyone agrees on is there's a satisfying amount of plot twists and spectacular imagery on Snowpiercer. There's Melanie deciding to side with Layton, and later on where Melanie seemingly sides with Wilford. There's the northern lights in Season 2 Episode 4.

It's hard to miss the scintillating nighttime scene of the train traveling down a massive corkscrew turn that Larich38 funnily says is "still the best twist of the entire show." While a lot of the comments go on about how beautiful the scene is, no one mentions the elephant in the room, that is the red lanterns in the windows that signal for Wilford.

Boki Got Kevin-ed

Snowpiercer Boki

It comes to light that Dr. Headwood is working on a secret patient during Season 3. Is she making another icy someone, or doing something else altogether to the mystery patient? Guesses abound as to who it could be, and it turns out to be Boki.

While it makes sense that Boki could come back, it's hard to believe that he'd be loyal to Wilford because of how strongly Boki hated Wilford the last time he was seen. _SingerLado4_ theorizes that "they pulled a Kevin on him," but that's impossible to do without Audrey. Other commenters agree that it doesn't make sense.

Dislike For Ben Based On Personality Traits

Ben in a suit in Snowpiercer

Throughout the series Ben has been a solid character. He helps to humanize Melanie through their shared backstory and the genuine connection that they share. He is likely the most rational person aboard the train.

Therefore it's a bit of a surprise to see the dislike for Ben pop up, where Ben is one of the bravest and most intelligent characters on the show, so it's hard to see merit to such a scornful reaction.

Layton Wanted Asha To Die

Asha Snowpiercer

Asha, played by Archie Punjabi, was a welcome surprise to the train of frozen travels. Her entry expanded its diverse representation, and the mystery around Asha's survival was intriguing. Her great sense of empathy shined through her traumatic struggles, and it was sad to see her die.

An unsavory opinion about why she died came from ToolNila, saying "Layton wanted her to fix the vent then die so that the New Eden lie could die with her." But this just doesn't fit Layton's personality. He and Asha were on good , and he was genuinely distraught by losing her. The writers could've chosen a different exit for her or kept her giving her better development.

LJ's Death Is Lazy Writing

LJ in 1st class

Even before she became the prime suspect in the murders that brought Layton from the Tail, viewers could see that there was something not quite right about LJ. While she certainly adapted to changes over the seasons, she never really changed herself despite her affection for Oz. Murderous LJ is absolutely the worst.

It may have come as a surprise to see the only known villain aboard the train to be killed off, but her death wasn't exactly the product of "lazy writing" as Mikkelet suggests. LJ's death has an air of satisfying irony to it since she unceremoniously chokes on her dead father's fake eye, which was the replacement for the one she stabbed as an ill-tempered kid.

No Love For Audrey And Bess Romance Because Audrey Is Annoying

Snowpiercer Bess Audrey

Both Audrey and Bess were on separate paths of finding themselves in this season. Audrey finally and rightfully became disillusioned with Wilford, going on a bit of a messy trek to find herself again. The likable Bess has gone through a lot throughout the series and clearly has a struggle with the stress of the travails on the train.

Thus fans are a bit divided about the new relationship between Audrey and Bess. "We found Audrey so annoying, but loved Till - she can do so much better," said Mister Woodster. However part of what makes the potential for this pairing a good one is that they've made a mutually healthy connection.

Layton Unfit For Leadership But Melanie Is

Snowpiercer Season 2 Melanie and Layton

Melanie is such a compelling character, so it was only right that writers found a way to bring her back aboard. It seemed especially fortuitous that she would recover just in time for the ing of the pyramids party. It could've been a great double celebration, except that she decided to spill the beans about New Eden.

This is another point that fans are a bit divided over. There are those that think that she had no other choice, and even think that "Layton is not fit to run the train," as -TheDudeAbides said. Others may agree that Melanie had to say something but that she should've handled it less recklessly, which is true because she lucked out that her actions didn't cause more chaos.
