I'm one of many when I say that Solo Leveling has quickly become one of my favorite anime. While it only has one completed season right now and a few episodes in its second season, it has already carved out its own space as a captivating, edgy shōnen series filled with incredible fights, great characters, and an interesting world just waiting to be explored.

Not only has Solo Leveling become one of my favorites, but I firmly believe that it's going to be a once in a generation hit. As someone who has seen nearly 2,000 hours of anime, I think Solo Leveling has the elements needed to grace the top of MyAnimeList for years to come.

Solo Leveling Has a Hugely Successful Manhwa

The Solo Leveling Anime Has Plenty of Content to Draw Inspiration From

One of the easiest ways to tell if an anime series is going to be successful is based on the manga. If it already has a crazy popular manga, its success is written in the stars. The Solo Leveling manhwa (South Korean manga, for those who are unfamiliar) is already beloved by readers all over the world. As a webtoon, it's super easy to consume right from your phone, almost begging people to read it, and Solo Leveling is one of the best series to start with.

While other titanic series like Naruto, Dragon Ball, and more were forced to throw in filler episodes due to the lack of source material available to be adapted, Solo Leveling will never have this problem. Not only does it have a ton of source material to adapt, but the main story is already over. The anime doesn't have to waste any time on filler content. Instead, it can focus on what makes Solo Leveling such a great series and bring all of its strengths to life at a comfortable, entertaining pace.

Solo Leveling Already Has a Hit Sequel

Solo Leveling: Ragnarök Proves Its Predecessor's Greatness

The fact that Solo Leveling already has a killer sequel series in Solo Leveling: Ragnarök is nearly unheard of. Ordinarily, Solo Leveling would have gotten an anime adaptation a long time ago, well before the sequel came out. The fact that it does have a sequel shows just how popular the world of Solo Leveling truly is. Without getting into any spoilers, the plot of Solo Leveling: Ragnarök takes place where the main story left off, adding even more amazing elements to an already stellar edgy anime universe.

When Boruto came out, it felt like the Naruto universe was taking several steps back. Solo Leveling: Ragnarök is both its own thing and a continuation of something great. Not only does it continue its predecessor's legacy, but it also highlights the aspects that made it so incredible in the first place.

Solo Leveling Features Amazing Animation and a Killer Story

Solo Leveling Has No Weak Points

Solo Leveling is an anime series I would recommend to anyone. It's well on its way to becoming one of the best anime of all time, and it's easy to see why from the very first episode. The first episode is incredibly gripping, pulling you into Jinwoo's world before you really even understand what it's about. It also sets the stage for Solo Leveling to become one of the best edgy anime series of all time through a couple of expertly placed dark moments, an amazingly determined main character, and a ton of other unique elements.

Solo Leveling is a top-tier anime series in two key areas: its story and its animation. Without a good story, even the most exciting-looking series can feel shallow and boring. Conversely, a gripping story without high-quality animation feels more like a novel than a true anime.

Thankfully, Jinwoo doesn't face problems in either category. His series is a true edgy anime in the best ways possible. The story that Solo Leveling exists upon is intriguing enough to keep anyone entertained, and the animation is superb, to say the least. These two elements are precisely why Jinwoo's fight against Igris the Bloodred is phenomenal. The battle highlights all the reasons you should watch this series, in one of the best anime fights of 2024.

Overall, Solo Leveling Is a Stand-Out Series

There Aren't Many Series That Can Compare

Solo Leveling does so many things right it might be easier to name what it does wrong. It has everything an edgy anime needs to stand out among a slew of competitors. The story itself is incredibly gripping, setting Jinwoo against bleak elements and not giving him a moment of respite. Even as he grows to become one of the strongest characters in the series, he continually takes on forces mightier than he is, so that he may overcome them and reach his true potential.

Jinwoo's unbelievable transformation from the weakest Hunter in the world to arguably the strongest by the second season makes the series a must-watch. A lot of other shōnen series attempt what Solo Leveling goes for. They want good fights, expert animation, and a dark character like Jinwoo, but they can't pull it off.
