Credible source PlayStation Game Size claims the Sega first teased Sonic Frontiers during the Sonic Central livestream in May of this year. Apart from hinting at the game's status as a new 3D Sonic adventure, the company wouldn't offer much more in the way of concrete information.

Leaks and rumors about the project persisted for months, with a few correctly outing the Sonic Frontiers title and open-world setup. Sega itself officially lifted the lid earlier this month during the Geoff Keighley-hosted next Sonic title's launch schedule.

According to PlayStation Game Size, the PlayStation database lists Sonic Frontiers' release date as November 15, 2022. Couple the fact that November 15 falls on a Tuesday with Sega's tease of a holiday 2022 launch, and the date in question seems legit at first glance. However, PlayStation Game Size notes this could still prove to be little more than a place-holder. Check out the post in the tweet linked below:

Again, the above information does fall in line with the holiday 2022 launch window featured at the end of Sonic Frontiers' announcement trailer. It's also worth noting that more than a fair few 3D Sonic games have released in the month of November - Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic '06, Sonic Colors, and Sonic Forces included. Still, fans should take the November listing for Sonic Frontiers with a grain of salt for the time being.

In addition to Sonic Frontiers, the Sonic Central 30th anniversary event let loose a slew of other details about the brand's future. The Sonic Origins collection will hit stores sometime in 2022, for instance, packaging in all of the following titles - Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD. The stream additionally included an unveiling of Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps, a two-part animated series starring series veteran Roger Craig Smith in the leading role.
