Amy Rose's cameo during Sonic 4. Even though it would be scandalous if the movie franchise didn't adapt her next, there's another female character exclusively from IDW Publishing's Sonic series who many fans would probably get even more excited about seeing on the big screen: Whisper the Wolf.
Even if Whisper were to be adapted, it wouldn't mean that Amy Rose shouldn't receive an adaptation. She's been a staple Sonic character ever since she debuted in the game Sonic CD. Undoubtedly, the fandom is anxious to see her appear in Sonic 4 not just because she's a fan-favorite, but because of how unfortunately the franchise has portrayed her.
After Sonic CD relegated Amy to the stereotypical role of the damsel in distress, her shtick has been to shamelessly throw herself at Sonic, who obviously doesn't share her feelings. While this makes Sonic look like a jerk, it also means Amy has no self-respect. For a more exciting character, the movies should turn to Whisper the Wolf.
Whisper the Wolf Shares the Best Qualities of Amy Rose without the Baggage
First Appearance: Sonic the Hedgehog #8 by Ian Flynn, Evan Stanley, Matt Herms, and Shawn Lee
Amy Rose needs to be adapted so she can shed that unfortunate persona once and for all. However, Whisper the Wolf would be more exciting because her appearance would be completely unexpected, and she doesn't carry any of that unnecessary baggage. Whisper also has Amy's best aspects, making her a welcome addition to the team. Like Amy, Whisper is a straight-up female warrior. In fact, she was originally referred to as the "Guardian Angel" due to her exploits. Before ing Sonic's Restoration, Whisper fought from the shadows, suddenly appearing to help change the tide of battle, before mysteriously disappearing.
Where there's Whisper, there are her Wisps, and all Sonic fans should want to see them on the silver screen as well.
Whisper would also naturally introduce a whole other species to the movie franchise through an epic weapon that even challenges Amy's awesome Pika-Pika Hammer. Whisper wields a Variable Wispon that harnesses the power of Wisps, a cute alien race another IDW character, Tangle. The two are inseparable, hence why IDW published the Tangle & Whisper miniseries.
Whisper the Wolf Also Has a Tragic Backstory in Sonic Lore
It Even Puts Knuckles's Story to Shame
Whisper also has a tragic history that puts Knuckles' backstory to shame. Even though Sonic 2 changed Knuckles' origin to fit with the movie franchise's universe, the part that didn't change is that he's the last of the Echidna Tribe. Sonic 4 would undoubtedly give Whisper a similar treatment. What's important about her character is that she was once part of a team that she considered family - only for one of her teammates to betray and murder all of them except herself (not for a lack of trying).

While Sonic The Hedgehog Is Getting A Fourth Movie, This Other Massive Video Game Adaptation Still Hasn’t Gotten A Sequel
Sonic the Hedgehog appears to be thriving as a live-action franchise, but one other video game adaptation franchise appears to be completely stalled.
Although it feels unlikely that Whisper will actually appear in Sonic 4, fans have some hope, since her character is playable in various Sonic games. Unfortunately, those games aren't top-tier titles on major consoles like PlayStation 5, Xbox or the Nintendo Switch. Her appearances are limited to mobile games, including Sonic Forces: Speed Battle. Whisper's adaptation will only become truly probable once she co-stars in something like Sonic Frontiers 2 or Sonic Adventure 3. Until then, Sonic fans will make do with Amy Rose while dreaming about what it would be like to see Whisper the Wolf in Sonic 4 or future installments.
