She is mostly a sweet Southern lady, but viewers see her go fierce in one episode when someone she loves is in trouble. Tig and Venus became a committed couple, though it wasn't without several roadbumps along the way.
Most of the club dismiss Tig and Venus's relationship as part of Tig's famously eccentric nature. But it is a relationship built on love, trust, and honesty, which becomes something incredibly important to Tig. Throughout the last two seasons of Sons of Anarchy, Venus is a recurring character on the show and in Tig's life. However, as much as Tig and Venus were a great couple and complimented each-other's personalities, there are also a handful of reasons why the relationship created problems in Tig's life.
Sons of Anarchy is available to stream on Star+.

Sons Of Anarchy Cast & Character Guide
Motorcycle drama Sons of Anarchy is about violent criminals, but the characters are made complex and even lovable thanks to the show's talented cast.
Reasons Tig And Venus Are Perfect For One-Another
Venus Fills A Void For Tig
A key reason that Tig and Venus are right for each other is simple — their personalities suit one-another. Everything else aside, Venus and Tig simply work well together and suit each-other, and it's easy to imagine them still settling down together if they'd met under different circumstances. It's Venus' exciting spirit that draws Tig in and makes him want to know her more. He's mentioned other women he's been with as being too shallow, quick to bore him, or they couldn't handle the life with him in the club.
Tig isn't afraid to get his hands dirty to help the club, as his life is dedicated to SAMCRO, and he's done some things he regrets. Venus takes all of that in and doesn't judge him for it. She wants to know him for who he is and not what he's done, which is the core reason that Venus is exactly what Tig needs.
Both ionate About Their Children
If there's one thing Tig cares about just as much as SAMCRO, perhaps maybe even more, it's his children. Venus comes into Tig's life right after the tragic and brutal loss of his daughter. Alexander Pope killed her and burned her alive in front of him and the grief he showed during that scene had fans feeling bad for Tig, even after all the terrible things he'd done in the past.
They both share an essential life value that means they'll never expect the other to put them above family.
Venus wasn't just a distraction for him like another woman might have been. She listened to him and comforted him. When Venus' son is in trouble, Tig gets the club to help and comforts her when she decides to send him off to live with friends, unsure that he'd ever accepted who she'd become. This fundamental quality of both Tig and Venus is a key reason why the pair are well suited to one-another, as they both share an essential life value that means they'll never expect the other to put them above family.
Venus Helped The Club Blackmail
Many of the women in Tig's past have struggled with all the risks and dangers his life in SAMCRO brings, but not Venus. On the contrary, Venus even pitches in when needed. In the Sons of Anarchy season 5 episode "Orca Shrugged," Venus helped the club blackmail an enemy by taking photos with him that could be seen as less than conservative. Venus was up for the task and she had fun with it, as did the rest of the club that were there.
It was exactly the kind of thing that Tig would think of, and it showed him that Venus was the adventurous woman he wanted to be with. The way she had fun with the photo shoot but still maintained her dignity was fascinating for Tig and the endeavor showed viewers that they both had devious minds that went well together.
Venus Tends To Tig's Wounds
Venus brought something to Tig's life that he'd never experienced before - being taken care of, in both the emotional and the literal, physical sense. Tig has never had anyone around him when he's hurting. He's been shot, stabbed, and otherwise hurt throughout the series, but he is usually stoic and handles it by refusing to show just how much pain he's actually in. After Venus comes into his life, when he has a bullet wound, she helps patch him up, and then she stays with him.
Venus offers Tig the comfort he never had, and that fans never realized he needed.
Venus offers Tig the comfort he never had, and that fans never realized he needed. In the Sons of Anarchy episode "Poor Little Lambs," after he is shot, Tig and Venus share a sweet kiss and talk about their feelings for each other. This showed fans a whole new side of Tig, and gave Tig the partner and love he wanted.

Sons Of Anarchy: The 5 Most (& 5 Least) Realistic Storylines
Sons Of Anarchy was a gripping and oftentimes raw show, detailing the hard truths of gang life. But not all storylines were completely realistic.
Tig And Venus Are There For Each Other Until The End
Another fundamental way Venus showed she was right for Tig all along came at the very end of the show. The Sons of Anarchy series finale "Papa's Goods" showed the club unanimously voting to kill Jax in a mayhem vote. Tig knows that his own vote is part of why his friend is about to die. Venus is there for him without fear or judgment.
Despite some slight adversity from other club , Tig has shown that he will always defend and protect her. He is there for her when she needs help with her son and anytime someone behaves like she doesn't belong. No matter what happens to them, or what decisions they make, Tig and Venus's loyalty toward one-another seems completely unwavering. They are always there for each other, no matter what, and this above everything else shows that their relationship was right for Tig.
Reasons Tig's Relationship With Venus Was A Problem For Him
View From Other Clubs
In the Sons of Anarchy season 7 episode "Faith and Despondency," Venus brings up her concerns about what other clubs might think of her, and her concerns are valid. Throughout the series, the club does business with people and other clubs, and they show both racism and discrimination against different kinds of people.
While there's no place for Transphobia anywhere, Venus is right to assume the world that Tig and SAMCRO live in is rife with it
For example, at one point, Juice is twisted up to the point where he considers suicide over selling out the club to the feds because they told the club he's half Black. Venus brings up that they may not accept her and Tig could end up having trouble with business deals because of it. While there's no place for Transphobia anywhere, Venus is right to assume the world that Tig and SAMCRO live in is rife with it, and more than once Tig faces obstacles because Venus isn't a ciswoman.
Venus' Identity Is Difficult For SAMCRO
The other SACRO club don't comment too much on Venus being a transwoman at first, but it isn't long before they start asking questions and directing jabs at Tig, questioning his identity and sexuality. They think it's a funny addition to his quirky personality when Venus and Tig first get together, but when they become a real couple, it's harder for club to accept.
It seems that the more serious Tig and Venus get, the less understanding of Tig's genuine feelings for Venus they become. This leads to several heated conversations between Tig and the more bigoted in SAMCRO's ranks. Tig has to fight through this and for the club to accept Venus for who she is. For her part, Venus doesn't fit in very well with the other "old ladies" and she has a hard time dealing with this.
Lovesick Is Not Part Of Tig's Character
One reason that Venus created problems for Tig that has nothing to do with her gender identity is the impact being in love had on his character. It only takes a few days after Tig and Venus meet for him to be like a teenage boy, lovesick over his newest relationship. He snuggles up to her, is protective of her, and appears to always want to be with her. This is very out of character for Tig, who had never been seen in a relationship on the show before Venus.
He was a popular Sons of Anarchy character due to his cold and stoic nature, which the presence of Venus significantly changed.
Many fans never liked their relationship, and it had nothing to do with Venus' gender, but with the idea of Tig turning into a mushy lovesick boy every time she was around. While it was good for Tig to be able to experience some happiness, he was a popular Sons of Anarchy character due to his cold and Stoic nature, which the presence of Venus significantly changed.

Sons of Anarchy: Every Major Club Explained
Sons of Anarchy followed the title club but it also introduced others that were either enemies or allies of SAMCRO. Here's every major MC in the show.
Tig's Identity Is Compromised
Tig's relationship with Venus isn't predicated on her gender, as the two have matching personalities and their feelings are genuine. However, other SAMCRO don't understand this, nor do they understand that his interest in her isn't purely physical — which creates issues for Tig. Venus is a transgender woman, but she has not had complete gender reassignment surgery. When the other club find this out, they're confused about how Tig and Venus can be together, and they question who Tig is or if he's become someone else.
What they knew about him and his preferences before is compromised, and he is left having to defend not only his relationship but also himself. As he and Venus become closer and more public, more club question who they are together and who Tig is on his own. Since the club's issues are no fault of Venus and their discriminating perspective is wrong, it's up to Tig to decide if he's strong enough to withstand their incrimination.
In Constant Defense Of Normalcy
Tig is no stranger to defending himself, and he's not anyone's traditional idea of "normal." He's considered odd and eccentric even among the many larger-than-life personalities in SAMCRO, but this has nothing to do with his relationship with Venus, despite the judgments of others. However, he does find that he is in constant defense of their relationship, and it takes a toll.
It's undeniable that his position in SAMCRO on Sons of Anarchy was less difficult before Tig and Venus became an item.
In the Sons of Anarchy episode "Faith and Despondency," Venus talks about this and about not being sure that she is what's best for Tig. He doesn't want it to be a fling and is willing to work to overcome whatever happens to them, but he continues to have to defend the relationship to his fellow club and anyone else that judges them. It's a true testament to the strength of his feelings for her that no amount of adversity from others makes him question his feelings, though it's undeniable that his position in SAMCRO on Sons of Anarchy was less difficult before Tig and Venus became an item.
