the SSU's movies, Kraven the Hunter will be the final piece in this chapter, and a new focus has been established.

According to a new report from The Wrap, Sony has no plans for new Spider-Man movie spinoffs in the SSU after Kraven the Hunter. The studio now shifts its focus to Future Spider-Man movies and series are the plan moving forward.

What The Sony Spider-Man Movie Future Report Means

The Studio Has Listened To What The Fans Have Been Saying

Sony's Spider-Man Universe was always a risky venture. Having a franchise that carried Spider-Man in its name but never actually featured a single version of the character was not a good look. Instead, Sony chose to develop spinoffs for Spider-Man-related characters and some of his villains. As one of Marvel Comics' most popular Spider-Man characters, Venom managed to have a successful franchise. Even then, Tom Hardy's charming dual performance as Eddie Brock and Venom's voice carried movies that did not particularly have the most exciting stories or sharp scripts.

A massive Avengers: Doomsday theory brings a shocking twist to Tom Holland's Peter Parker, explaining how Spider-Man 4 can be a multiverse story.

However, the rest of the SSU focused on characters no one wanted to see star in a movie, such as Morbius and Madame Web, or that work because of their Spider-Man connection, in the case of Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Kraven the Hunter, which is projected to open domestically with only $20-$25 million. Now, Sony seems to be moving on from this failed attempt to create a sprawling comic book universe in the best way possible. Instead of shying away from using Spider-Man, Sony's next Marvel projects all focus on the hero or his variants, leaving villains and smaller characters behind.

Our Take On The Sony Spider-Man Movie Future Report

I'm Excited For What Comes After The End Of The SSU

I was interested in Sony's Spider-Man Universe when it started, and even though I enjoy Tom Hardy's Venom movies for what they are, I'm happy to see the studio move on to better plans. Spider-Man is Marvel's most popular character for good reason, and the animated Spider-Verse franchise showed that Peter Parker is not the only version of Spider-Man people will show up for. As such, I'm looking forward to Tom Holland's Spider-Man future, the end of the Spider-Verse trilogy, and Spider-Man Noir's live-action debut with Nicolas Cage, which are more exciting than Sony's Spider-Man Universe ever was.

Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU) is a media franchise and shared universe centered around various characters associated with Spider-Man, but without including Spider-Man himself as a central figure. The SSU focuses on antiheroes and villains like Venom and Morbius and has expanded to include additional characters like Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter. The franchise exists independently of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) but has made some minor crossovers.
