When it comes to horror, Blumhouse continues to be a Hollywood leader in of its output. The company is behind horror hits like Get Out (2017), M3GAN (2022), Hush (2016), and The Invisible Man (2021), with the Blumhouse model dating back to 2007's Paranormal Activity. Making films at low budget levels, giving filmmakers creative freedom, and releasing horror films through the studio system is how Blumhouse operates, and it's resulted in some strong slates in recent years.

Blumhouse has had a relatively strong 2024, starting the year off with Night Swim, which may not have fared well with critics but was a box office success. The same can be said for Imaginary, but the company's following movie, Afraid, failed to really connect critically or commercially. In September, however, Blumhouse released a horror movie that can be considered its best of the year, earning strong scores on Rotten Tomatoes and striking gold at the box office.

Speak No Evil reviews were positive from critics, with the film earning an 83% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes to accompany its audience score.

Following Speak No Evil's release on Peacock on December 6, Reelgood now reveals that the Blumhouse remake ranks as the sixth most popular movie on streaming in the U.S. for the week of December 5 – 11. The movie beats titles like My Old Ass (2024), Subservience (2024), and Fly Me To The Moon (2024), but falls short of other horror movies like The Substance (2024) Alien: Romulus (2024), and Smile 2 (2024) with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024) occupying the top spot. The Blumhouse Movie Was Also A Box Office Hit

Speak No Evil was made on an estimated budget of $15 million and ended up grossing $76 million worldwide. This impressive worldwide total comprises just under $37 million domestic and $39 million internationally. Considering the movie was likely looking at a break-even point of between $30 million and $37.5 million, it was clearly a commercial success for Blumhouse in addition to a critical one.

McAvoy previously starred in Split (2016), which was Blumhouse's highest-grossing movie until the release of Five Nights at Freddy's in 2023.

Though Blumhouse has historically made a number of sequels to its horror hits, with M3GAN 2.0, for example, now confirmed to be on the way, the Speak No Evil ending makes it unlikely another movie will move forward. Even more so than the original, the remake wraps the story up in a definitive way that suggests the journey for these characters is over. Speak No Evil's streaming success does, however, mean that Blumhouse's model continues to be a viable one, especially in the horror genre, and new projects from the company aren't set to slow down anytime soon.
