WARNING! Spoilers for Spider-Gwen: The Ghost Spider #11Spider-Gwen may usually be a street-level hero, but her latest story has pulled her out of her comfort zone and into Marvel's vast multiverse, and she's sporting a new armored redesign to complement her cosmic upgrade. Gwen is officially trading her original vigilante costume for a high-tech space suit that would likely impress Iron Man if he ever saw it.

The preview for Spider-Gwen: The Ghost Spider #11 by Stephanie Phillips and Paolo Villanelli opens in a shocking way, as Gwen finds herself caught up in a battle between aliens on a planet far from Earth. Even though this isn't her usual scene, Spider-Gwen leaps into action nonetheless, and her updated costume gives her a fighting chance against the warring creatures.

Donning Iron Man-like armor rather than her typical super-suit, Spider-Gwen has undergone a massive design change that befits this new arc's groundbreaking shift in setting. Gwen's new space suit is exactly what she needs to hold her own as King Loki arrives to face her.

Iron Man Would Be Impressed by Spider-Gwen's New Costume

Ghost-Spider Beyond design by Mark Brooks - Spider-Gwen’s new space suit

Designed by Mark Brooks, the series' cover artist, Spider-Gwen's armored upgrade takes the color scheme and design philosophy of her original costume and translates it into a space suit. It features her standard black, pink, white, and turquoise colors, but replaces her hood with a helmet that can help her breathe on different extraterrestrial worlds. Furthermore, she no longer needs to wear a mask that resembles Spider-Man's to conceal her face since the helmet does the job on its own. Overall, Gwen is still recognizable as Spider-Gwen, but with extra technological advancements that befit her bold new status quo.

This armor doesn't mark Gwen's first cosmic redesign in recent memory, surprisingly enough. In What If...? Galactus Transformed Spider-Gwen #1 by Kalinda Vazquez and Daniel Picciotto, Gwen gets selected as Galactus' new herald in an alternate continuity, and with this surge in power comes a revamped design that replaces her spandex with armor once more. With that being said, that design sticks much closer to the original by incorporating her usual hood and mask, whereas Spider-Gwen's look for her "Ghost-Spider Beyond" era deviates from what fans know by fitting her in a full-body space suit that alters her appearance more notably.
