It might be hard to believe, but the digital for available for both of Sony’s ed consoles, even as it’s set to serve as a launch title for the PS5.
Aside from the usual upgrade in graphics and faster framerate, the PS5 version of Spider-Man: Miles Morales will have a major advantage over its current-gen brethren by having an upscaled version of Marvel’s Spider-Man included as an exclusive bonus in the game’s Ultimate Edition, adding new alternate costumes and Photo Mode features to 2018’s much-beloved instant classic. Not only that, but now it seems that the PS5 digital of Miles Morales won’t use as much disk space as the visually downgraded PS4 version.
At the bottom of the Sony's official pages for both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 versions of Spider-Man: Miles Morales, it can be observed that the digital for the former takes up about 50 gigabytes of hard disk space, a good two gigabytes less than the latter. Both versions are listed at $49.99, and they are both set to launch alongside the PS5 console on November 12.
First announced during the July PlayStation 5 showcase event, Spider-Man: Miles Morales will take place villainous faction led by the Tinkerer and will utilize his own unique powers, including an electric Venom Sting and a cloaking ability that will hopefully improve the often-tedious stealth missions of the previous game.
So far there isn’t an official explanation for why the size for Spider-Man: Miles Morales is smaller on the PS5, but a likely guess could be that the new console’s more advanced hardware can render the game’s expansive version of New York with less data than the PS4, as well as PS5 itself being better at compressing and optimizing files than the system that came before it. Regardless, it’s a good sign of things to come for players who are often worried about having enough disk space for their digital library of games, which is set to get larger when Spider-Man: Miles Morales swings onto both of Sony’s consoles this November.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be available for PS5 and PS4 on November 12, 2020 in select countries and November 19, 2020 globally.
