A new gameplay video of a fight scene between Miles Morales and the Rhino in releasing a series of alternative comic covers.

Players have known that ray tracing would be a feature of the PS5 edition of Spider-Man: Miles Morales for some time. Insomniac Games has previously detailed the differences between the two versions of the title, explaining that the next-gen release would feature a number of enhancements. The vast majority of these are focused on improving the visual quality and resolution of the game, although there are also improvements that take advantage of the DualSense controller's haptic .

Sony and Insomniac Games recently released brand new gameplay footage from Spider-Man: Miles Morales, giving Digital Foundry an in-depth look at some of the new graphical features in the PS5 version. In the DF Direct video, John Linneman and Alex Battaglia break down exactly how ray tracing is working in the title and what effect that has on the visuals. Battaglia explained that in the video "you get a pretty good look at the reflections because they are not breaking down," which helps the on-screen action look more stable. The pair praised the fact that the reflections look smooth and crisp throughout a sequence where Miles and Peter Parker battle against the Rhino in a mall. The ray tracing possible with the PS5's improved hardware allows every reflective surface to show vibrant colors and quality images.

The developer has also recently confirmed that Miles Morales will be the only playable character in the game. Its predecessor, Marvel's Spider-Man, featured a number of side characters that s could control for brief periods. However, that will not be the case in the standalone expansion even though there is still a wide range of other important characters who will assist Miles throughout the campaign.

Ray tracing has been one of the most talked-about features of the next-gen consoles so it is nice to actually see it in action. Few games have actually shown off exactly how ray tracing will work or what difference it will make to image quality. But from what fans can see in this new gameplay video for Spider-Man: Miles Morales, it certainly looks like it will be a big improvement.
