2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home brings heroes and villains together from across the multiverse, but primarily from the two alternate realities of the previous Spider-Man movie franchises. The movie ends with the MCU spared a multiversal disaster, but by sending cured villains back to their home realities, Peter Parker actually creates many more realities than existed previously.

Not unlike the logic behind the multiverse explained in Loki, every choice creates another universe. Beyond the existing universes the villains came from, each individual supervillain like Green Goblin or Doctor Octopus creates a new universe when they go back. Each of these realities offers new possibilities and intriguing potential for the future of the MCU and the Sony Spider-Verse as well.

The Original Tobey Maguire Timeline

Tobey Maguire Spider-Man

One thing is for sure: the original timeline of the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies that began in 2002 remains intact. Despite his actions in No Way Home, the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man is still a product of a universe where Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus died.

But this version of Spider-Man goes back with tremendous knowledge. He is aware of the multiverse, other Spider-Men, and the practical ability to cure some of his other villains, who likely include characters who never made it to the screen like the Vulture, who was intended to be the villain of Spider-Man 4 before it was abandoned.

The Original Andrew Garfield Timeline

The same is true for the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man. His universe remains intact, including the tragic death of Gwen Stacy that still haunts him. But he returns a wiser and more accepting person, having saved MJ from the same fate.

He also possesses incredible scientific knowledge that he can apply to other villains, and there are many. A version of the Sinister Six was gathering at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and if Andrew Garfield comes back for more appearances, fans could return to this universe.

Timeline Where Green Goblin Lives

Longtime comic book fans know the Green Goblin is one of, if not the, greatest Spider-Man villains. So the prospect of a Norman Osborn cured of his villainy returning to a universe with a young Spider-Man generates a tremendous amount of possibilities.

It's possible Norman becomes more of a mentor and ally of Spider-Man, and Peter goes to work at Oscorp. Osborn could even prevent the eventual death of Doctor Octopus by participating in his work and research.

Timeline Where Harry Osborn Doesn't Become The Goblin

A cured Green Goblin doesn't preclude his son Harry from finding out who he was, and who Spider-Man was, meaning even in that timeline Harry Osborn could follow in his father's footsteps. But another timeline emerges where he never does.

Norman Osborn could tell Harry of his experience, and the truth about both the Goblin and the Spider-Man. This could prevent Harry from going down the path he did in Spider-Man 3, eventually becoming a shadow of the former Goblin.

Timeline Where Doctor Octopus Lives

Doctor Octopus attacking Spider-Man in No Way Home.

There are many versions of Doctor Octopus in Marvel Comics and there are now at least a couple in live-action. One of the most intriguing aspects of No Way Home is that the cured Otto Octavius returns presumably to the end of Spider-Man 2 alive and well.

He carries with him knowledge of the arc reactor created by Tony Stark, a technology he is likely to adapt in his universe. This could have massive consequences for his world, and for Peter Parker, who would be likely to work with him.

Timeline Where Doctor Octopus Still Dies

Doctor Octopus dies in Spider-Man 2.

There is another timeline that could branch off from this scenario though, and it's much more tragic. Doctor Octopus' fusion generator is still melting down when he returns to his universe, and the only way he stopped it in Spider-Man 2 was by sacrificing his life.

If that's the case, then his reawakening and experience in No Way Home will be woefully cut short. It's possible though that he could still impart some critical knowledge to Peter Parker before he drags the generator into the river to save the world.

Timeline Where Electro Lives

Electro, during Spider-Man No Way Home, drawing power from an arc reactor.

Many powerful variants of Electro exist in the comics and Jamie Foxx has essentially played two in live-action. He would be playing another de-powered Max Dillion if the movies return to him. This more confident and secure Electro would still be possessed with tremendous knowledge though.

He could be an ally of the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man in his new reality or try to live a life as a new man. He might be of immense interest to Oscorp however, who would likely want to know about how he transformed so completely.

Timeline Where The Lizard Is Cured

At the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, The Lizard is being recruited into a potential Sinister Six. Dr. Curt Connors creates a new timeline when he goes back to his reality after No Way Home, cured of his affliction and of no use to Oscorp.

He could still be an advisor to Oscorp or perhaps Peter Parker, depending on how much his experience changed him. He could also simply go about recreating the circumstances that transformed him into The Lizard and start the process all over again.

Timeline Where Sandman Is Cured

Sandman is one of the most powerful of the Sinister Six in the comics, but in No Way Home, he isn't a real part of the villain team. He just wants to go home. He does, to a new timeline where he's cured and able to potentially return to his family.

While little is known of the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man universe after Spider-Man 3, it's likely Flint Marko was on the run and still committing crimes. With his new circumstances and perhaps an advocate in Peter Parker, he could return to an honest way of living.

Timeline Where Venom Kills Spider-Man

One of the biggest Spider-Man movie villains left out of No Way Home - kind of - was Venom. But a new timeline emerges from the movie thanks to the fate of Harry Osborn. If Harry Osborn never becomes the Goblin, then a series of choices that follows result in a new timeline where Peter Parker is killed by Venom.

It's Harry's intervention in the final battle of Spider-Man 3 that allows Peter to defeat Venom and Sandman both. Without him, then the Venom symbiote (along with Eddie Brock) kills Peter Parker, leading to a vastly different universe.
