Warning: This article contains minor SPOILERS for Marvel's Spider-Man.
Spider-Man on PS4 has been one of the most talked about games of 2018, and Spider-Man fans have had plenty of time to talk about the hero's change of outfit for the Insomniac Games-developed project. As it turns out, Spider-Man's Advanced Suit has something of a surprising origin, to match its suitably more high-tech look.
Indeed, although there have been many points of discussion surrounding the superhero title, including a rather classic Spidey suit, that striking Advanced Suit is hard to ignore.

As it turns out, the suit's creation is something of a turn-up on its own. During Spider-Man, Dr. Otto Octavius discovers Peter Parker hard at work fixing the Spider-Man costume. Rather than jumping to the conclusion that Peter is the Web-Slinger himself, instead Octavius thinks that Peter is simply Spider-Man's suit crafter - as mentioned in the screenshot below.
Because of this, Octavius - at this point a benevolent soul before his more villainous turn - decides that he will help Peter out. While the hero is asleep, the good doctor decides to design some improvements to the suit, and this actually where that impressive white spider symbol comes from, alongside a wealth of other abilities. The Advanced Suit itself can then be crafted by players by using Tokens.
All in all, it's good to see that Insomniac Games has put that much attention into something like the origin of a new suit for Spider-Man. Whereas those kind of costume shifts could be something arbitrary, the developer has put a lot of care into the way that it's crafted this tale, making its original story feel very much like it is part of Spider-Man lore as a whole rather than a to-be-forgotten spin-off.
Hopefully, the post-game content for Spider-Man on PS4 will be just as impressive from this perspective. Already, Insomniac has given a run-down of exactly Black Cat, it would be good to see the title deliver punchy smaller episodes of gameplay alongside its larger, 20-hour main campaign.
