With just a few weeks left until the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans believe a new Marvel game is teasing the appearances of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Many are hoping to see both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire return as Spider-Man in the new film, which revolves around the multiverse. Numerous rumors have already suggested both actors will appear in the film and the marketing for the movie has also confirmed that many of their respective villains will return to go toe to toe with Tom Holland's Peter Parker.

The last trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home confirmed a lot of speculation surrounding the film by giving proper glimpses of Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, Jamie Foxx's Electro, and the Lizard, but the two legacy Spider-Man actors were noticeably missing. Nonetheless, it still created a lot of hype for the film. Marvel's Spider-Man developer Insomniac Games expressed excitement for the Spider-Man film and ticket sales have already broken several records, proving there's immense hype behind the new movie.

The hype and mystery hasn't let up, though. Fans spotted some references to the three Spider-Man actors in Marvel's Contest of Champions (via The Direct)A new series of quests may allude to the appearances of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in No Way Home. The three side quests each feature two villains from each respective actor's films. The first quest, To Be or Not To Be - the first two words of which phonetically sound like Tobey - features Green Goblin and Doc Ock, both of whom will be in No Way Home. The second quest, And Rue The Day, - which sounds like Andrew - features Electro and Rhino. Rhino has not been confirmed for the new film, but he did appear in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Spider-Man: Tobey Maguire & Andrew Garfield Teased In Marvel Game Quest

The third and final quest, Tomfoolery, features Mysterio and Vulture from Tom Holland's two films. Marvel's Avengers recently added Spider-Man, so the character has been popping up across a number of Marvel games lately. It's possible that these missions in Contest of Champions are nothing more than a fun tribute and a way to celebrate the character leading up to the new film. While it's not impossible that this is a clever tease, it does seem unlikely that a mobile game developer would know whether or not Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will be in Spider-Man: No Way Home, much less have the privilege of revealing that info, even in an indirect fashion, before anyone else.

Developer Kabam may just be leaning into the hype, but it likely wouldn't be able to do so without clearing such an act with Marvel. The comic entity may be trying to use the popular mobile game to brew more speculation around the returns of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, but it likely won't be obvious until we get closer to the release of the film. Between the impending release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the arrival of Marvel's Avengers, and the sly teases in Contest of Champions, the wall-crawler is getting increasingly hard to escape.
