In the Batman doesn't exist. There might be a good reason for that, as Spider-Man was responsible for stopping a mugging that was a clear reference to the DC Comics heroes' devastating origin.
Thomas and Martha Wayne's deaths are one of the most tragic in comics. After seeing Zorro, Bruce and his parents were confronted by a mugger, Joe Chill. Chill Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. But, what if Spider-Man was around to stop Chill before the Wanye's were murdered in cold blood?
In Amazing Spider-Man #411, as Ben Reilly's Spider-Man traverses across the city as a wanted man himself, as he discovers a mugging in progress. In the scene, a robber points a gun at a family that just left a theater. The mugger grabs the pearls off of the woman's neck, as the father confronts him. However, before he can pull the trigger, Spider-Man shows up, webs the robber's hand, and punches him in the face. Instead of Bruce's parents laying in the alley, the mugger. knocked out cold by Spider-Man, lays on the ground as Martha and Thomas look in shock as the web-slinger disappears.
The scene was a clear reference to Bruce Wayne's origins: The pearls, the looks of the characters, the fact they just saw a movie, the confrontation, it all parallels the moment from DC Comics. If it wasn't obvious enough, the young boy happens to be wearing a shirt with a Batman logo on it. It's not subtle at all. While the connection is easy to miss, it's clear that Marvel was having their own fun by including Batman's origin in the Spider-Man comic. It's fully possible that Reilly stopped Batman from existing in the Marvel Comics Universe. With Bruce's parents living after the robbery, the driving motivation for him to become Batman doesn't exist. Instead, Bruce can grow up with his parents around and have as normal of a childhood as any billionaire kid could.
Perhaps, the reason Batman doesn't exist in the pages of Marvel Comics is because Spider-Man stopped the most tragic moment of his life and rewrote his origin story in the process? While the real reason might be related to rights issues and character ownership, it's fun to imagine the foiled robbery as the actual truth behind Marvel Comics' lack of Batman.
