Spider-Verse vs Multiverse: 10 Biggest Differences Explained

The MCU and Sony's Spider-Verse movies take different approaches to the Marvel multiverse, although both franchises overlap in certain aspects.

Could Spider-Verse 3 End With Tragic Deaths?

One of the driving conflicts in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was Miles and Miguel O'Hara's differing viewpoints on the concept of canon events. As Miles learned about how a police figure in any Spider-Man's life across the multiverse is destined to die, the clock began to tick for his dad, Jeff Davis. When Moore talks about Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse having to deal with "some dilemmas," it wouldn't be shocking if it comes down to the survival of Miles' dad.

With Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse organically being a superhero story, there will obviously be the element of trying to rewrite someone's so-called "destiny" and find a way to save the day. In Miles' case, while he is obviously not going to let his father die because a canon event says he has to, it's not like he will ignore the fate of the multiverse. That is one of the core elements of the Spider-Verse franchise, which is Miles defying the odds and the expectations surrounding himself.

The only way that Jeff could die that isn't at the hands of someone deciding for him is if he willingly sacrifices himself for a crucial plot in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, there is always the possibility of other characters who aren't Miles' father becoming a casualty as the result of the multiverse conflicts. For now, the world will have to wait and see what goes down in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

Madame Web opens in theaters this Wednesday, February 14.
