Stan Lee made a lot more cameos in Lee's death prior to the film's release. However, it turns out his presence in the movie was bigger than first thought.
As the creative mind behind many of Marvel's most popular characters, Lee was considered an icon. Without him, Marvel wouldn't be the powerhouse dominating all facets of the entertainment industry they've become. His quick wit and self-awareness were often on display in his cameos dating back decades, but Into the Spider-Verse took it to new heights.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse prominently featured Lee in an animated role as the comic book shop owner that sells Miles (Shameik Moore) his first Spider-Man costume. When Miles questions whether the costume will fit, Lee gleefully tells him "it always fits... eventually" before pointing to the "no returns" sign. That isn't Lee's only appearance in the film, however. Nick Kondo, an animator at Sony Imageworks who worked on Into the Spider-Verse shared a cameo that many viewers probably missed; when Miles, now embracing the role of Spider-Man, tries to stop a train, Lee can be seen briefly in one of the windows doing his iconic Spider-Man web-slinger pose.
That's just the start, Chris Miller, one of the film's producers, also took to Twitter to share that there are many more secret cameos that fans can catch when the Blu-ray drops on March 19th. In the post, Miller claims that Lee makes an appearance in the movie "dozens of times", highlighting an example from earlier in the film after Miles and Peter crash-land in a busy intersection. This news will surely have viewers scouring Into the Spider-Verse to find the hidden cameos.
Aside from the various cameos in Into the Spider-Verse, Lee appeared in a few other major titles in 2018: he was in all three MCU efforts - Avengers: Endgame prior to his death.

Beyond the cameos, Lee's presence in the industry is sure to live on. His impact on the comic book industry is unmatched and he will forever serve as one of the biggest influencers. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse's touching tribute to Lee and Spider-Man's co-creator Steve Ditko in the mid-credits was well-deserved.
