Gwen Stacy and Miles Morales will reunite in as Miles Morales embraces his role as the successor to his universe’s deceased Peter Parker. The film ends with the heroes seemingly no longer able to see each other again, yet Gwen manages to come back to Miles in the sequel.

In Into the Spider-Verse, Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin, has his subordinates build a super-collider, which inadvertently causes Spider-Man variants from other realities to become stranded in Miles Morales’ world. Although the other spider heroes become Miles’ friends and mentors, they can only remain in his reality for a limited time before they die, necessitating that they return to their home realities.

By the end of Into the Spider-Verse, Kingpin is defeated and all of the Spider-Man variants return to their home realities. Much to Miles’ surprise, however, Gwen Stacy returns in the first trailer to Across the Spider-Verse. While it seems unlikely that Kingpin built yet another super-collider in Miles’ universe, perhaps a similar machine was created in Gwen’s. Another possibility is that another reality is summoning Spider-Man variants from across the multiverse for a specific purpose.

Into the Spiderverse Miles Gwen Peter

Gwen Stacy is a scientific genius in her reality, but her exact area of expertise is not specified in the first Spider-Verse film. Perhaps Gwen replicates the super-collider to stay in touch with other Spider-Man variants and help them (or request their help) as needed. Spending too much time in a foreign reality can be fatal, however, so the trips would need to be limited. Gwen its that she missed Miles in the Spider-Verse 2 trailer, but she didn’t visit him solely for personal reasons, as indicated by her asking Miles to her on an adventure as Spider-Man.

With new Spider-Man variants ing Miles and Gwen in Across the Spider-Verse, the film may have a significantly larger scale than its predecessor. If the film is inspired by the Spider-Verse comic storyline Morlun and the Inheritors may be threatening all Spider-Man variants, leading them to band together. In this case, whatever method is used to reunite Gwen and Miles, it may be a collaborative effort on the part of multiple Spider-Man variants for the sake of their survival.

While unlikely, Gwen Stacy and Miles Morales may be able to visit other realities due to the multiverse-altering adventures in the Spider-Man: No Way Home. With a reality-altering spell accidentally damaging the multiverse, perhaps other universes are merging, allowing Spider-Man variants like Gwen and Miles to visit each other’s worlds more easily. Whatever the reason and implications, having Gwen Stacy and Miles Morales team up again in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) will delight fans of the first film.
