For this reason, despite only being recently announced, Hazelight has shared plenty about what can be expected from the studio this year.

Split Fiction Is Coming To Players This Spring
As part of the Spring lineup of game releases, Split Fiction will be coming to several platforms on March 6th, 2025. Given the 3-year gap between A Way Out and It Takes Two, this schedule seems to be relatively close to what we've come to expect from the studio, and it's a good sign that players can expect an equally incredible experience.

It Takes Two Review: A Wonderful Co-op Adventure
It Takes Two is a masterful co-op game, with plenty of varied and enjoyable game modes alongside a fantastic visual style and heartfelt story.
It Takes Two, Hazelight's previous release in cooperation with EA Originals, was released in 2021 and has managed to sur over 20 million copies sold since. It is currently regarded by many as one of the best co-op experiences out there and even secured The Game of the Year award for 2021 as well, so if Split Fiction sees even a fraction of the same success, then Hazelight may be looking at a potential nominee for Game of the Year 2025.
Split Fiction Reveal Trailer & Gameplay Details
A Unique Co-op Adventure That Merges Sci-Fi & Fantasy In A New Way
Split Fiction appears to offer similar gameplay to It Takes Two, with a split-screen experience centered around cooperative puzzles and platforming. As has been the case previously, it will not be possible to play this solo, as it is intentionally designed as a co-op experience. With a setting that jumps between sci-fi and fantasy worlds, sometimes showcasing them simultaneously, players can expect an experience unlike anything else Hazelight and EA Originals have presented before.

Is It Takes Two Only Co-Op Or Can You Play Solo?
It Takes Two is a game about a couple trying to mend a broken relationship. It offers both online and couch co-op, but is it possible to play solo?
As Mio and Zoe, Split Fiction's dual leads, players will be able to uncover new mechanics and abilities throughout their journey as they traverse back and forth between two distinct settings. From fantastical villages to futuristic space stations, Mio and Zoe will need to work together to escape the simulation they're trapped in, but it's worth keeping an eye out for side stories that go beyond even that. With cooperation as the sole focus, Hazelight emphasizes the importance of working together with friends.

It Takes Two Sells 1 Million Copies In Less Than a Month
Hazelight's co-op only adventure game It Takes Two has sured 1 million sales in less than a month - making it something of a surprise hit.
The Founder of Hazelight Studios, Josef Fares, stated at The Game Awards 2024 that Hazelight is continuing its attempts to push the boundaries of what players expect from co-op adventure games and promised that players can expect to have their minds blown with unique juxtaposing settings and a wide range of ever-changing abilities for their characters. One thing is for sure — if all goes well, Split Fiction should provide some great shared memories.
Everything We Know About Split Fiction's Story
Help Mio & Zoe Escape Their Written Worlds
Split Fiction will follow the story of two aspiring writers, Mio and Zoe, who are hoping to have their ideas published via simulation by J.D. Rader and his company. What they don't initially realize is that the machine they're hooked up to is designed to steal their creative ideas and trap them in a never-ending simulation. However, after an unfortunate incident, Mio and Zoe are accidentally thrust into the same simulation, causing them to jump between each other's written worlds together.
Once inside, they uncover the truth about the simulation and realize they must do everything they can to escape. Unfortunately for them, the two leads could not be more different. With Mio being a realistic sci-fi writer and Zoe being an optimistic fantasy novelist, the two are thrust into settings they're vastly unprepared for. However, to escape the simulation, they'll need to put aside their differences and work together, traversing through their sci-fi and fantasy worlds utilizing their new abilities.

All Confirmed Platforms For Split Fiction
For $49.99 Players Can Experience Split Fiction In A Variety Of Ways
As stated, Split Fiction will launch on March 6th, 2025. At that time, the game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and the EA app for a total cost of $49.99. In addition to the surprisingly reasonable point, with other notable titles often reaching minimum prices of $60-$70 on release, Hazelight and EA Originals take it one step further.
Split Fiction is already available for pre-order on EA's official site among some of the other platforms.
To make their games accessible to everyone and avoid microtransactions and additional fees, Hazelight is continuing their tradition of a Friend's , a unique feature that allows two players to enjoy one copy of the game, regardless of whether they're playing online instead of couch co-op. Furthermore, this feature is made even easier with functionality that s crossplay across PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam.
This means that players need only purchase one copy of Split Fiction to enjoy it, and the other may use the Friend's to be their companion player. At a price point of $50, if players split the cost, you're looking at a $25 game on launch day. It's a value that's hard to beat, and it will arguably be well worth it if Hazelight's previous success is anything to go off of.
