Josef Fares, head of Hazelight Studios, has invited a pair of streamers to visit Hazelight as a reward for completing a secret level in Split Fiction. The game released earlier this month on March 6 to critical acclaim, and has quickly become a must-play co-op adventure.

One of Split Fiction's most difficult - and secret - levels, known as Laser Hell, was recently completed by streamers sharkOvO and E1uM4y, who shared their success in a BiliBili stream. After their achievement made the rounds on social media, Fares reached out to the duo to make good on a promise that beating the level would get them an invite to the Hazelight studio, saying: "VERY impressive! I will keep my promise and invite you both to Sweden for an early look of our next game."

Just How Difficult Is This Split Fiction Secret Level?

It's Not Easy To Impress Fares

Those who've played Split Fiction and know its gameplay is more about collaboration than challenge might be a little confused as to just how tough Laser Hell really is. Well, according to Fares in the BiliBili stream: "There are barely people on our team who can make it. This is a crazy, crazy achievement."

Laser Hell is triggered by pressing buttons in a certain pattern while in the Isolation level's elevator. If the code is cracked, players will take a quick ride to a hidden platform, where they'll have to navigate a series of obstacles without being hit by floors and walls of lasers. The level ends in a room with a large screen, and when the streamers approached, a message from Fares began to play, promising them they had earned a visit to Hazelight for defeating the complicated level.

Josef Fares Continues To Engage Positively With Fans

The Studio Is No Stranger To Listening To Players

Hazelight Studios is known for having an open, collaborative environment, which also extends to its fans when it comes to their . Collaboration is also the overarching theme of the gameplay in hit successes like It Takes Two and Split Fiction. Fares taking to X to remind the streamers that yes, they will be invited to Sweden to see his next game is also reflective of this same community drive that Hazelight looks to foster.

As a longtime veteran of the industry, Fares seems determined to be actively involved in fan discussion, celebration, and conversation. He has remained open to player on Split Fiction and Hazelight's other games, often engaging with fans on X or on Reddit, and has previously said he will continue to make games as long as people are interested in playing them. As proven here, Fares - and Hazelight - are very much in it for the players.
