Developer Kongregate has revealed a brand new release trailer for characters within the SpongeBob universe. Announced earlier this year, the title has SpongeBob and his friends go on an adventure across dimensions with Sandy’s Vortex Machine and will be played similar to other idle mobile games.
Nickoledons Spongebob Squarepants has been a considered a pop culture icon and one of the most popular cartoon shows on TV for the last twenty years. Still on the air today, the show is liked by both old and young viewers and has received films, comic books, and video games that are being continued to be released. Last year, for example, fans saw the release of SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated on PC and consoles which remastered the cult-classic 2003 PS2 action-platformer. This title was also released on mobile devices, followed by the announcement of SpongeBob's Ide Adventures almost a year later by Kongregate's San Diego-based studio, Ultrabit.
Developer Kongregate revealed that SpongeBob's Idle Adventures will have players travel with SpongeBob and his friends on a brand-new idle adventure as they use the vortex machine to traverse various dimensions and discover alternate versions of themselves while trying to return to Bikini Bottom. The idle game will allow players to gather characters from the show, manage businesses from famous locations and dive into alternate universes and dimensions where they'll be introduced to new versions of characters never seen before. In a statement, Kongregate's Director of Product, Jorge González Ezquerra shared that the company has a long experience with idle games and that it has been an exciting project for them. He went on to explain that Kongregates is looking forward to offering the world of idle to a new segment of players with this new Spongebob game, hoping that fans will enjoy what they've put together.
Nickelodeon has also recently revealed Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, an Super Smash Bros-like fighting game starring some of Nickelodeon's biggest names, including SpongeBob Squarepants. It followed the Nickelodeon Kart Racers, a 2018 racing game with Spongebob once again the face of the series. Though a release date has yet to be announced for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, a recent clip of Spongebob and Patrick was used to break down the fundamentals of the game.
Announced back in June and released worldwide today, SpongeBob's Idle Adventures will take fans to alternate dimensions with never-before-seen variations of characters. Players who are unfamiliar with idle games can jump on and expect to be easily hooked while trying to return to Bikini Bottom in this brand-new free-to-play game set in the Spongebob universe.
