A fan theory suggests Nickelodeon in 1999 and has been unstoppable ever since. The show has not only become the most successful Nicktoon to date but also one of the longest-running animated series, with 13 seasons and counting.
SpongeBob SquarePants follows the daily adventures of the title character and his closest friends in the underwater city of Bikini Bottom. Accompanying SpongeBob in all types of adventures are his best friends Patrick Star and Sandy Cheeks, his neighbor and coworker Squidward Tentacles, and his boss Mr. Krabs, with his pet snail Gary also ing the fun from time to time. Although the show has taken viewers to different parts of the sea and within Bikini Bottom, there are some places that serve as recurrent settings, as are SpongeBob’s house and his workplace, the Krusty Krab, which might be haunted.
The Krusty Krab is the home of the Krabby Patty and property of Mr. Krabs. Even though Mr. Krabs isn’t exactly the most generous and kind resident of Bikini Bottom, as he loves money more than anything or anyone else (even more than his daughter, Pearl), the Krusty Krab is the most popular restaurant in town, and it seems to be always open and operating. It’s the Krusty Krab’s schedule that has made some viewers wonder if the famous fast-food restaurant has other employees besides SpongeBob and Squidward, and not exactly because Mr. Krabs decided to bring more people on board (because that would require paying them, and he hates that).
A fan theory suggests the Krusty Krab has a ghost crew that operates off-screen. The Krusty Krab has been said to close on Sundays, but there have been various episodes where it seems to be open every day (and, for a while, it was open all day as well), but SpongeBob and the universe of SpongeBob SquarePants, this idea could be possible. A ghost crew would also fit with Mr. Krabs’ ideas about money, as the ghosts wouldn’t have to be paid at all and still do their jobs.
Sadly, there’s no evidence of a potential ghost crew operating the Krusty Krab aside from how the restaurant is still open and working when SpongeBob and Squidward aren’t there, which could be a simple and honest mistake from the writers of SpongeBob SquarePants. What’s true, however, is that a ghost crew at the Krusty Krab would make a really fun episode, as it would be interesting to see the dynamics between them and Mr. Krabs and how SpongeBob and Squidward would react to them.
