introducing a HiFi streaming subscription tier. Two years later, there's still no sign of lossless audio coming to the platform. During this time, competing platforms like Apple Music and Amazon Music Unlimited have already added lossless audio to their standard subscription plans, leaving Spotify far behind.

While Spotify s wait for HiFi audio to become available, they can adjust the audio quality in the app to make sure music plays in the highest quality possible. To do this on the Spotify app for iPhone and Android, tap the 'Home' tab and then tap the gear icon (Settings) in the top right corner. Select 'Audio Quality' and then under 'WiFi Streaming,' tap the 'Very high' option. Select the same option under 'Cellular streaming' if you're not worried about mobile data usage. To adjust audio quality on the desktop app, click the profile picture and then select 'Settings.' Choose 'Very high' under 'Audio Quality.' The option to adjust audio quality isn't available on the web.

Why You Can't See Spotify's Very High Audio Quality Option

In the same Audio Quality menu, s can also enable or disable the toggle next to 'Auto adjust quality.' This automatically adjusts audio quality when there's not enough internet bandwidth. It's also possible to change quality to 'Very high' from the same menu, both on the mobile and desktop apps.

If s don't see the 'Very high' audio quality option, that's because it's only available for subscribers. Spotify free s can adjust audio quality too, but the best option for them is 'High.' For reference, high audio quality is limited to 160kbps, while very high audio is approximately 320kbps. Unfortunately, neither option is anywhere close to Hi-Fi (CD quality), which uses a bitrate of 1,411kbps.

While it would be nice to have a HiFi streaming option on Spotify, s may have to pay more for this perk. An individual subscription costs $9.99 per month, and a previous report suggested that Spotify was exploring a HiFi plan that would cost $19.99 per month. That's the same price as Tidal's HiFi Plus plan, which includes Master Quality audio at 9,216Kbps.

It's unclear if Spotify will launch a separate HiFi tier or integrate lossless audio into the existing subscription, but until then, adjusting audio quality in the app is the best option. s can also tweak a few other settings to improve their listening experience. For example, it's possible to enable audio normalization which balances the audio between loud and soft songs. To do this, open Spotify settings, tap 'Playback' and then turn on the toggle next to 'Enable Audio Normalization.' s can also choose an Equalizer preset on Spotify. This option is available in the same Playback menu on iOS, but Android s can find it under the 'Audio Quality' menu in Spotify settings.
