Everything We Know About Spy Kids: Armageddon

Everly Carganilla and Connor Esterson in Spy Kids Armageddon

The Spy Kids franchise currently consists of four installments – the original, The Island of Lost Dreams, Game Over, and All the Time in the World – all of which were written and directed by Robert Rodriguez. These four films followed the adventures of Carmen and Juni Cortez (Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara) as they become involved in their parents' espionage organization, who were played by Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino.

After the last installment arrived in 2011, Spy Kids: Armageddon will now reboot the family-friendly franchise with brand-new characters. Zachary Levi, best known for Shazam!, and Gina Rodriguez, best known for Jane the Virgin, play the parents. Everly Carganilla and Connor Esterson, each of whom are making their feature film debuts, play the kids who become involved in the world of espionage.

Much like the original Spy Kids movie, the reboot finds the titular sibling duo tasked with saving their parents after a failed mission. This time around, the mission involves a powerful Game Developer who unleashes a computer virus that gives him control of all technology. In addition to the trailer and first look-images, a September 22 release date was also announced for Spy Kids: Armageddon on Netflix.
