On April 9th of 2022, Spy X Family released its breakout first season. The anime has become one of the most beloved shows of the year, and the adorable Anya Forger is a huge reason for that.
While Loid and Yor are two of the coolest slice-of-life characters of all time, Anya brings a unique element to the show that makes her feel like the true standout of the Forgers. As precious as Anya is, there are plenty of other anime characters out there equally as adorable.
Kotaro
Kotaro Lives Alone features the community of an apartment complex who find themselves looking after a young boy, Kotaro, who now lives on his own.
Kotaro has many similarities to Anya that make them two of the cutest kids in the genre. Both warp the lives of otherwise apathetic or eccentric adults into nurturing individuals. Both are also very animated characters that can get mystified over simple things, with Anya being a bit more energetic and Kotaro being more of an older soul.
Ash's Pikachu
Ash and his Pokémon. In their time together Pikachu, the Electric-type Mouse Pokémon, has become one of the most iconic figures in anime history.
Pikachu's iconic status and seemingly infinite merchandise stem not only from its role in the anime but from the fact that it's undeniably adorable. Pikachu's chubby cheeks and oversized cheeks are just two of the design features that make Pikachu, just like Anya, the perfect mascot for one of the world's most recognizable anime.
Eru Chitanda
Eru Chitanda is the dear friend of one of the best slice-of-life protagonists ever, Houtaro Oreki. Together, they seek to solve multiple mysteries along with the other of the classical lit club.
Eru's cuteness and child-like innocence are what kickstart almost the entire plot of Hyouka. Houtaro becomes mystified by Eru's curiosity over the smallest things, to the point of feeling completely ensnared by her. Eru and Anya both exhibit overwhelming curiosity that can sometimes cause problems for others around them.
Mob
Mob Psycho 100 stars Mob, a young boy with incredibly powerful psychic abilities. If pushed too far, Mob can lose control of his own incredible psychic abilities.
It isn't often that such a plain and gentle character is so powerful in anime, but Mob isn't a traditional overpowered protagonist. He and Anya both prove that incredible supernatural abilities can be effectively used on a precious character that doesn't seem built for battle. Mob's signature bob cut and dopey eyes are the cherries on top of his already precious personality.
Kaya/Amonojaku
Ghost Stories is a fascinating anime that's almost completely different from sub to dub. However, the general plot of the family's pet cat being possessed by the dark spirit Amonojaku remains the same.
While animated cats are almost always inherently adorable, the Amonojaku-possessed Kaya is a special case. The Tsundere ghost begins as an early antagonist in the short anime before eventually growing fond of the humans that it accompanies. Just like Anya in her entrance exam, Amonojaku goes outside of his basic nature to help people he cares about.
Hamtaro
Hamtaro, the 2000s children's anime, was a part of many anime fans' childhoods and a huge reason why many people continued following the genre into adulthood.
Just as Hamtaro and Laura set the precedent for an adorable but unusual relationship between pet and human, Anya and Loid are the ultimate unusual yet adorable father-daughter relationship. Whatever misadventures Hamtaro finds in a world far too big for his small hamster frame, he's one of the most adorable characters in the genre.
Nadeshiko
One of the main characters of one of the best comedy anime of the decade, Laid Back Camp, Nadeshiko is a young girl incredibly enthusiastic about camping.
Anya and Nadeshiko are a perfect pair of pink-haired heroines. Both find themselves excited by very different things, but their ion for their hobbies is precious regardless. While Nadeshiko enjoys the simpleness of camping and good food, Anya finds joy in the complexities of spy and assassin work.
Akamaru
Naruto's Chunin Exam arc is one of the best in the series, with Naruto's tournament starting off with a battle against Kiba and his canine partner Akamaru.
Akamaru was featured multiple other times throughout the series, including in the following arc where the gang did their best to rescue Sasuke from Orochimaru's clutches. Spy x Family manga readers will know just how adorable man's best friend can really be, and Akamaru is one of the best pups in anime.
Shrunken Nezuko
Demon Slayer protagonist Kamado Tanjiro's younger sister Nezuko undergoes many changes throughout the series. In order to protect herself from the sun, she frequently has to shrink to travel size.
Nezuko, in her shrunken state, is a famously adorable anime character. Her escape scene from Kanao has been widely heralded in the community as one of the cutest and funniest scenes in the series. Nezuko and Anya would both do anything for their family, and both are adorable while protecting them.
Eri
My Hero Academia is one of the best beginner anime, but the introduction of the tragic time-manipulating Eri can be difficult for newer fans to handle.
Eri is undoubtedly one of the cutest characters in anime due to her relationship with Mirio and obsession with sweet foods, but like Anya, she has a tragic past. Just like Anya, Eri experienced incredible pain and suffering as an experiment due to her supernatural abilities. While both characters are precious, fans should girls are also brave and strong as well as tragic characters.
