After much anticipation, the Squid Game season 2 cast has been revealed, and while many of these characters haven't been given names or backstories yet, they'll likely be the latest batch of contestants to compete in the horrific Squid Game. The Korean series Squid Game became a breakout international hit when it premiered on Netflix in 2021, garnering critical acclaim as audiences from all over the world tuned in to watch Gi-hun fight his way to the top and lose plenty of people along the way. With the reveal that the elderly Oh Il-nam created the game, audiences are surely wondering how it will continue after his death.
The Squid Game season 1 ending seemed to wrap up the plot nicely, save for Jun-Ho's death fakeout. However, the series was so well-received that it seemed like a bad idea for Netflix and creator Hwang Dong-Hyuk not to continue the series. When audiences last saw Gi-hun, he had skipped his flight to figure out who was still running the game. Audiences will assuredly find out, and it's likely to be one of the Squid Game season 2 cast already revealed. The next season premieres on the streaming service sometime in 2024, but in the meantime, here's what's known about the Squid Game season 2 cast.
Lee Jung-Jae As Seong Gi-Hun
Lee Jung-Jae plays Seong Gi-hun in the Squid Game season 2 cast, reprising his role from season 1. Jung-Jae was born in Seoul, South Korea and saw his first role on television in 1994 playing Lee Han in The Young Man. He won a Critic's Choice Award, a SAG award, an Independent Spirit Award, and an Emmy for his stark portrayal of Gi-hun, making him an internationally acclaimed actor. It's unknown if Gi-Hun will be returning to the Squid Game for season 2, or if he'll be trying to take things down from the outside.
Lee Jung-Jae is most well known for appearing as Park Pyong-Ho in the mystery K-drama Hunt, Prince Suyang in the historical K-drama The Face Reader, and Ray in the Korean horror/thriller movie Deliver Us From Evil. More recently, Jung-Jae has starred as a detective in Blue Birthday, Jang Tae Joon in Chief of Staff, and Kang Taek in Wooparoo Adventure. He can soon be seen in the TV show The Acolyte and Do-cheong.
Lee Byeong-Heon As Hwang In-Ho, The Front Man
Lee Byeong-Heon s the Squid Game season 2 cast as Hwang In-Ho, aka The Front Man. Born in Seoul, South Korea, Byeong-Heon got his start in the 1991 television show Asphalt My Hometown. He has quite a storied career in the Korean film industry, with over 50 credits to his name. In-Ho shot his brother Jun-Ho at the end of Squid Game season 1, but the fact that Jun-Ho returns suggests In-Ho was trying to save him, rather than kill him.
Lee Byeong-Heon is best known for playing the lead Sun-woo in the Korean crime drama film A Bittersweet Life, Sgt. Lee Soo-Hyeok in the Korean action thriller movie t Security Area, and Soo-Hyeon in the Korean crime drama film I Saw the Devil. Byeong-Heon's more recent credits include starring in Our Blues as Lee Dong-Seok, Jae-Hyuk in Emergency Declaration, and Kim Kyu-Pyeong in The Man Standing Next. He will soon appear in Do-cheong alongside Lee Jung-Jae, The Match, and Concrete Utopia.
Wi Ha-Joon As Hwang Jun-Ho
Wi Ha-Joon's Squid Game season 2 cast character is Hwang Jun-Ho, whose fate was initially left uncertain after In-Ho shot him, and he fell into the sea. Ha-Joon was born and raised in South Korea, and began his career starring as a young Woo-Gon in Coin Locker Girl. Since then, he's had phenomenal success in the Korean film industry. Jun-Ho will likely be recovering from his injuries when Squid Game season 2 begins, but what he will do now that he knows his brother is the Front Man is uncertain.
Wi Ha-Joon is best known for playing Ji Seo Joon in one of the most romantic K-dramas on the market, Romance is a Bonus Book, as well as K in Bad and Crazy and Ha-Joon in Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum. Some of his more recent credits saw the actor starring as Jung Ki Chul in The Worst Evil, Choi Do-Il in Little Women, and Do Shik in Midnight. Ha-Joon can also soon be seen in the TV show Destined With You and Gyeongseong Creature.
Kang Ha-Neul As A Squid Game Contestant
Kang Ha-Neul likely plays a Squid Game contestant in the Squid Game season 2 cast. Born in Busan, South Korea, Ha-Neul's first role was that of Nam-San in Battlefield Heroes. Ha-Neul has had a few action roles before, appearing in projects like The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure and Bad Guys: Vile City. Therefore, he should be well-equipped to run around fighting for his life in the next Squid Game.
Kang Ha-Neul is best known for playing Hwang Yong-Shik in one of the best K-dramas on Netflix, When the Camellia Blooms, Prince Wang Wook in the historical K-drama Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, and Jin-Seok in Korean mystery/thriller movie Forgotten. Yim Si-Wan As A Squid Game Contestant
Yim Si-Wan s the Squid Game season 2 cast as a new contestant for the games. Si-Wan was born and raised in South Korea and got his start in the industry in 2012, playing young Heo Yeom in Haereul poomeun dal but is also known for being a member of the South Korean boy band ZE:A. It's unknown who his character is or what he will be doing in Squid Game season 2, but based on the fact that he's appeared in the creepy series Hell is Other People and the action-packed film The Merciless, he's sure to fit in just fine.
Yim Si-Wan is best known for playing Jin-Woo in The Attourney, Jang Geu-Rae in Misaeng, and Jin-Seok in Emergency Declaration. Recently Yim Si-Wan can be seen displaying his talents as Oh Jun Yeong in the crime drama film Unlocked, An Dae-Beom in the K-drama romance series Summer Strike, and Hwang Dong-Ju in the K-drama thriller series Tracer. Outside of being an actor in Squid Game season 2, he will soon star in Road to Boston as Yun-Bok Suh.
Park Sung-Hoon As A Squid Game Contestant
Park Sung-Hoon's Squid Game season 2 cast character is unknown, but it's likely he will be another Squid Game contestant. Park Sung-Hoon is from South Korea and his first acting credit comes from the 2011 series Bachelor's Vegetable Store, but arguably got his big break in the ing role of Park Gon in Black Knight: The Man Who Guards Me, winning a Best New Actor award at the KBS Drama Awards. Between his work in Joseon Exorcist and playing a psychopathic serial killer in Psychopath Diary, he should be well-suited for Squid Game season 2.
However, Squid Game isn't the only popular Netflix K-drama series he's appeared in, as he recently took on the role of Jeon Jae-Joon in The Glory. Other than that, Sung-Hoon is best known for portraying Tak Soo-Ho in Justice, Jang Go-Rae in My Only One, and Seo Gong-Myung in Into the Ring. He will soon appear in the TV show The Bequeathed, the female-led K-drama series Not Others as Eun Jae-Won, and The Day of the Kidnapping as Park Sang-yoon.
Yang Dong-Geun As A Squid Game Contestant
Yang Dong-Geun s the Squid Game season 2 cast as another possible contestant in the deadly games. The South Korean actor began his career in the industry by starring in 1989's Carousel, and has since had roles in quite a list of Korean television shows and movies. However, he's best known in South Korea for playing young Dong-Hoon in the 1991 show Hyung for which he won two Best Young Actor awards at the KBS Drama Awards and the Baeksang Arts Awards. Films like Night of the Undead and Bloody Beach have proven that Dong-Geun will be right at home in Squid Game season 2.
Yang Dong-Geun is best known in Korea for playing Chang-Guk in Address Unknown and Ko Bok-Su in Ruler of Your Own World. More recently, Dong-Geun has tackled film and television roles like Jo Seong-Gyun in The Forbidden Marriage, Dong-Hyeon in The King of the Desert, and Chief Hong in Yaksha: Ruthless Operations. He can soon be seen in the Korean movie Starlight Falls.
Park Gyu-Young As A Squid Game Contestant
Park Gyu-Young plays a Squid Game contestant in the Squid Game season 2 cast. Gyu-Young was born in Busan, South Korea, and began her career in the industry acting in Jo Kwon's music video "Crosswalk" in 2016, but her breakout role was that of Kim Dal-Ri in Dali & The Cocky Prince. Her experience playing the brave lieutenant in the Regional Investigation Unit in The Devil Judge should lend itself well to the tenacity needed to survive the Squid Game universe.
Park Gyu-Young is best known for playing Nam Ju-Ri in It's Okay to not be Okay, Yoon Ji-Soo in Sweet Home, and Oh Ji-Yul in Romance is a Bonus Book. As for recent credits, Gyu-Young has had roles as Seo A-Ri in Celebrity, Hwang Miyung-Shim in Nokdu Flower, and starred in Yesung's music video for "Beautiful Night." She can soon be seen in A Good Day to be a Dog as Han Hae-Na.
Jo Yu-Ri As A Squid Game Contestant
Jo Yu-Ri s the Squid Game season 2 cast as another new Squid Game contestant, whose backstory is unknown at this point. Born and raised in South Korea, Yu-Ri got her start on the screen appearing as a contestant in Idol School, a reality girl-group survival show that trains its competitors how to sing and dance. She rocketed to fame as a member of the South Korean-Japanese girl group Iz*One, debuting as a solo artist when the group disbanded in 2021. It'll be interesting to see the K-pop idol in a K-drama series and how her talents will fit into Squid Game season 2.
Squid Game season 2 isn't Yu-Ri's first appearance on the screen, however, as she also placed 3rd in the reality competition show Produce 48 and hosted seasons 1 and 2 of Adola Travel Agency: Cheat-ing Trip and As Each Instinct. She recently played Oh Ro-Shi in Mimicus and Sieun in one of the best K-dramas with more than one season, Work Now, Drink Later.
Kang Ae-Sim As A Squid Game Contestant
Kang Ae-Sim's Squid Game season 2 cast character is likely yet another terrified Squid Game contestant. The South Korean actress got her start a little later on the screen, first appearing in Old Miss Diary as Hawaii's daughter. She's since gone on to have successful one-offs and ing roles in several well-known K-dramas. Her role as Chim Sa Bong in the gritty thriller series Tell Me What You Saw is experience enough to be a compelling participant in the next Squid Game.
Kang Ae-Sim is best known for playing Mi-Jeong in the Korean romance movie Supilreobeu, Jeong-Wan's Mother in the K-drama film Another Way, and the complainant Park Jeong Rae in Into the Ring. Some of her more contemporary credits include roles as Yool-A's grandmother in One Day Off, Jo Min-Jeong's mother in Divorce Attorney Shin, and Choi Yeong-Ran in Extraordinary Attorney Woo. Squid Game season 2 is her next project.
