What Squid Game Season 2's Cameraman Mistake Means For The Series

It's Not A First For High-Profile TV Shows

The filming mistake isn't new to popular TV shows, with the most famous example being Game of Thrones' Starbucks coffee cup in season 8, episode 4. Other high-profile shows with similar mistakes include a cameraman in Star Trek: Discovery season 5, episode 2, and a crew member showing up in the background of The Mandalorian season 2, episode 4. While uncommon, these kinds of editing mistakes are not unique to Squid Game, and can often go unnoticed by everyone except the most perceptive of viewers.

This means the editors for Squid Game season 3 will need to be on high alert for any similar accidents in their footage. With season 3 already filmed and a 2025 release window confirmed, any complex sequences like the action-packed revolt will need some careful editing to make sure crew don't show up in the background again.

Given the extent of the error, season 3 will likely be checked over a few more times before its release on Netflix. But, since it took a while for the Internet to notice, it's clearly just a harmless mistake that doesn't detract from the rest of the episode. However, it's a good reminder that even high-profile TV shows like Squid Game can have some blunders, showing just how detail-oriented filmmaking always is.

A now-deleted video from Netflix Korea seemingly confirmed Squid Game season 3 will be released on June 27, 2025.
