Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Squid Game season 2!

The titular competition will continue after games are always the most exciting part of new seasons of Squid Game, with season 2 introducing some all-new games in a surprise twist. Interestingly, the ending of Squid Game season 2 has already teased what is to come in season 3, such as this incredibly exciting game.

While the entire week of the competition was covered in Squid Game season 1, season 2 switches things up a little by only focusing on the first three games, with the latter half being the focus of Squid Game season 3. This means that there are three games left to be seen in the final season of Squid Game, and based on season 2's games, they should be different from anything that has been seen before. Luckily, Squid Game season 2's mid-credits scene shows off a bit of what the next game is, proving that it will be the most exciting one in season 3.

Squid Game Season 3’s First Game Will Be Its Most Exciting

According To The Show's Creator

The Squid Game season 2 finale features an incredibly brief mid-credit scene, one that shows off some key elements of the next game in Squid Game season 3. Firstly, the scene shows Player 096, Player 100, and Player 353 entering the room for the next game. In it, the giant doll known as Young-hee from the Red Light, Green Light game can be seen. Next to her, a younger boy robot named Cheol-su can also be seen, with him sporting a green outfit. Then, a flashing red light and green light are seen before the scene ends, returning to the Squid Game season 2 credits.

Squid Game series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk spoke about the mid-credits scene, with him providing a little more context as to what the scene was. Here are the creator's full comments:

"That's actually a [sneak peek] of Cheol-su, who, like Young-hee, is a new giant doll that we're going to be showcasing in season 3... And that's also a hint at the most exciting game in season 3 as well. So, while it hasn't been shared yet, I hope everyone will be excited to meet Cheol-su and the new game."

So, according to the very person that created Squid Game, this teased game will be the most exciting one in Squid Game season 3. With three more games to go, this is incredibly exciting, as it is sure to be a major deal in the season. There are still a lot of questions surrounding what this new game is, but if the creator of the popular Netflix series is saying this about the game, than viewers can rest assured that it will start season 3 off with a bang.

What Squid Game Season 3’s New Doll Game Really Is

Is It A New Version Of Red Light, Green Light?

How Squid Game season 3's new doll game actually works hasn't been revealed just yet, but there are some theories as to what the game actually is. It is most likely that this new doll game is an iteration of the previous Red Light, Green Light game, with this obviously being why the Young-hee doll and flashing red and green lights are there. The addition of the Cheol-su doll could allow the games to view players' backs as well, preventing them from hiding behind each other as they did in Squid Game season 2's first Red Light, Green Light game.

Squid Game season 2 concluded with many of the show's main characters still alive, raising the question of what’s next for them in season 3.

Another popular theory is that the game could be a variation of the Jack and Jill children's game. In it, players roll a colored die, move to a space of that color, and spin a wheel. If the wheel successfully lands on a well, then play es to the next turn. If the wheel lands on a bucket, then the player goes back to start. Young-hee and Cheol-su could be stand-ins for Jack and Jill, and the red and green lights could be a new way to determine what color spaces the players land on. And, if the wheel lands on a bucket, it will most likely mean death for the players.

Squid Game Season 3 Will Continue The Show’s Red Light Green Light Tradition

It Is The First Game In All 3 Seasons

Even if the game from the Squid Game mid-credits scene isn't Red Light, Green Light, season 3 is gearing up to continue the show's Red Light, Green Light tradition. Much like the first two seasons, Squid Game season 3 will start out with a game primarily featuring the Young-hee doll, one of Squid Game's most famous pieces of iconography.

I Can’t Believe Squid Game Season 2 Actually Topped Its Original Red Light Green Light Scene

Squid Game season 1 set expectations high, and I'm thoroughly impressed that season 2 actually topped its iconic Red Light, Green Light scene.

Throughout the game, the players will most likely be discussing the connections to Red Light, Green Light, a game that they played just a few days ago. Thus, viewers will get to see Gi-hun take a third swing at a game like Red Light, Green Light, making for an incredibly interesting start to Squid Game's final season.
