This would be a sinister way to punish Gi-hun for his actions in the second season, as he would have to act like his worst enemy and watch as his fellow players risk their lives in the games.

Therefore, I think it's possible that being forced to dress up as The Front Man could push Gi-hun over the edge, and potentially lead to him eventually choosing to accept the role. While it is Gi-hun's goal to stop the games, Squid Game has never been a show that provides happy endings. Therefore, I'm not going to hold out hope that the remaining players will be able to survive the events of Squid Game season 3.
While Squid Game season 3 will undoubtedly feature many deaths, it would be even more heartbreaking if Gi-hun is the one who has to decide who lives and dies while dressed as The Front Man. It is very hard to predict what Gi-hun's fate will be in season 3, but this would definitely be a very horrific way for In-ho to punish him. Additionally, this twist would also probably surprise most viewers of Squid Game season 3 and raise the stakes of the final season even more.
