WARNING: Contains SPOILERS for Star Trek: Section 31.
Michelle Yeoh's Emperor Philippa Georgiou as she s a group of Section 31 agents to prevent a devastating weapon from being unleashed on the United Federation of Planets. Lt. Garrett s the mission as the team's Starfleet representative, with a mandate to ensure that "no one commits murder."
Rachel Garrett (Tricia O'Neil) made her Star Trek debut in Star Trek: The Next Generation season 3, episode 15, "Yesterday's Enterprise," as the Captain of the doomed USS Enterprise-C. Despite this being the character's only appearance, her status as an Enterprise captain combined with a compelling performance from Tricia O'Neil ensured that Rachel Garrett remained a prominent figure in Star Trek lore. Kacey Rohl brings vibrant new life to the character in Star Trek: Section 31, making her easy to root for despite the questionable morality of the rest of her team.
More Rachel Garrett Is Why Star Trek: Section 31 Needs A Sequel
Kacey Rohl's Lt. Garrett Steals The Show In Section 31
After being sent back in time in Star Trek: Discovery season 3, Emperor Georgiou found herself in the early 24th century of Star Trek's "lost era," where she became the owner of a nightclub outside of Federation space. This nightclub is where viewers get their first look at Lt. Rachel Garrett, who is there with a Section 31 team to track down Emperor Georgiou. Led by Omari Hardwick's Alok, the Section 31 team is comprised of an eclectic group of agents who do not do things by the book.

Star Trek: Section 31 - Everything You Need To Know
Academy Award-winner Michelle Yeoh headlines Star Trek: Section 31, and here's what we know about Paramount+'s first Star Trek streaming movie.
Lt. Garrett does not always approve of her teammates' methods, but she understands the importance of their mission. Garrett genuinely believes in the ideals of Starfleet and the Federation, and while she's a "top-tier science officer" now, she has aspirations to become a captain someday. While she initially appears somewhat uptight, Garrett later shows that she actually excels in the chaos. The ending of Star Trek: Section 31 leaves the door open for a sequel, as Garrett receives a promotion and remains as Starfleet's voice among the ragtag Section 31 crew.
Rachel Garrett’s Star Trek Story Is Begging To Be Told By Section 31
There Is So Much More To Rachel Garrett's Story
Although Star Trek: Section 31 follows a Section 31 black ops team, the film does not actually reveal much about the organization itself. Section 31 leans into sci-fi action and Lt. Garrett stands out as the most recognizably Star Trek character in the film. A Section 31 sequel should lean into this and reveal more about Garrett's Starfleet career, as well as life in the Federation of the early 24th century. Garrett's presence among the black ops team raises many questions that are begging to be answered in a potential sequel.
Rachell Garrett already has the makings of a great captain.
In her scenes in Section 31, Kacey Rohl proves she would be more than capable of leading a film or television show as Rachel Garrett. With her love of Starfleet and quick out-of-the-box thinking, Rachell Garrett already has the makings of a great captain. It's not difficult to imagine Rachel as the Captain of the Enterprise, and it would be fascinating to see how she gets there. It remains to be seen whether Star Trek: Section 31 will get a sequel, but, either way, the franchise should absolutely find a way to tell more of Rachel Garrett's story.
