The God City Is a Huge Threat - But It's Not the Big Bad
Last fall, a bold new era in IDW’s Star Trek line began with the publication of Star Trek #400. The special one-shot featured different stories set across the franchise’s history; the book also seeded a new ongoing series, simply titled Star Trek. In this new title, a mysterious force is killing the god-like beings of the Star Trek universe, and the Bajoran Prophets send Benjamin Sisko back to our reality to find the culprit. Sisko’s journey has not been without danger, as he and the crew of the Theseus witnessed the destruction of the Crystalline Entities. This same entity has panicked Q, who seemingly fled reality itself. Before he did, he left a clue for Sisko: "find the God City of T’Kon." In issue four, the Theseus found the city - and the god-killer, who was revealed to be the Klingon clone Emperor Kahless.
Can Sisko Stop a God?
The main question becomes: why is the God City of T’Kon attacking Earth? The T’Kon Empire has been extinct for over 100,000 years, so is the God City's new course Kahless' fault, or have the ancient species returned with a grudge against humanity? Previous issues of Star Trek have confirmed that the God City is capable of moving entire star systems, making it a seemingly unconquerable foe. Salvation may come in the form of Sisko and Crusher, especially since the former still has some of the omnipotent powers he possessed among the prophets - though these abilities are fading fast.
Earth itself has faced very few outright attacks in the Star Trek universe. The planet was attacked in both the Romulan and Dominion wars, as well as twice by the Borg. It has also faced the likes of V’Ger and the Whale Probe from Star Trek IV. Each time, Earth stood valiantly. Yet the God City of T’Kon is a threat unlike any Earth has faced before in Star Trek history, and it will take everything Sisko and the Theseus have to stop it.
Star Trek #6 is on sale April 12 from IDW Publishing!
