characters who may appear in Ahsoka season 2. Ezra Bridger is seemingly no longer a question mark given Esfandi's recent post, but the actor seems to suggest something much more surprising as well.

On Eman Esfandi's Instagram story, which is no longer available to view (due to the temporary nature of all Instagram stories), Esfandi shared the following, suggesting Ahsoka season 2 has begun filming. This would be news to many, given filming wasn't expected to begin until this summer.

Eman Esfandi Hasn't Confirmed He's In Ahsoka Season 2... But It Seems Likely

The Implications Of This Post Seem Quite Clear

Ezra Bridger's return in Ahsoka season 2 isn't officially confirmed, but this recent post certainly suggests the announcement is more a matter of when than if. This makes sense given the story the Star Wars Rebels ending.

The final scenes of Ahsoka season 1 also confirmed that Ezra landed safely back in the main Star Wars galaxy, and he has already reconnected with Hera Syndulla. In light of that, it seemed safe to assume already that Ezra would be returning for the show's second season, although that technically remained to be seen. It will be interesting at this point to learn whether this was indeed an announcement by Esfandi (and how permissible such an announcement was).

What Ezra Bridger Would Mean For Ahsoka Season 2

This (Possible) Announcement Drops Some Major Story Hints

There are a host of story implications for Ahsoka season 2 stemming from this potential announcement. For one, this would mean that Ahsoka season 2 will span two distinct locations—one being the main Star Wars galaxy, where Ezra Bridger and Thrawn now are, and the other being Peridea, where Ahsoka and Sabine remain trapped. This would also presumably mean that the story pertaining to Thrawn, specifically regarding his attempts to bring together Imperial remnants, will persist in season 2.

This is particularly interesting given The Mandalorian and Grogu is just around the corner, with a May 22, 2026, release date. Ahsoka season 2 is set to release after that movie, which could mean a narrative throughline in both that movie and the Ahsoka show regarding Thrawn and his power grab. Although this post from Eman Esfandi is not an official Disney announcement, it does seem as though Ezra Bridger will be returning in Ahsoka season 2.
