Ahsoka season 2 would be in the works for over a year now, but plot details have been scarce, though that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating. With other external factors at play, such as the tragic ing of Baylan Skoll actor Ray Stevenson in 2023, the plot of Ahsoka moving forward was certainly unclear.

However, in the announcements at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Japan, Ahsoka’s showrunner, Dave Filoni, revealed some major plotlines for the characters. This included a faceoff between the Empire’s Grand iral Thrawn and the New Republic’s iral Ackbar.

Ahsoka came under a bit of criticism because the show leaned a bit too much on audiences knowing and having watched Star Wars Rebels, but fans who were familiar with the show knew there was a Lasat-sized gap missing. This made it that much more exciting when Zeb Orrelios was announced to be featured in Ahsoka season 2, especially after the backlash they got for his absence in season 1.

Star Wars Fans Were NOT Happy Zeb Was Missing In Ahsoka Season 1

The Lasat Is A Key Part Of Star Wars Rebels

Fans of Rebels were really hoping to see Steve Blum reprise his role as Zeb Orrelios in Ahsoka season 1, especially since the character made a cameo in The Mandalorian season 3 on Adelphi Base. This omission of Zeb in Ahsoka was especially annoying, considering Carson Teva, who worked with Zeb at Adelphi Base, appeared in multiple episodes. It’s also been confirmed that Zeb will appear in the The Mandalorian and Grogu movie, though it’s still unclear how large of a role he will play. However, it looks like he will be working with Din Djarin and Grogu.

Ahsoka Season 2 Finally Gives Us The Live-Action Rebels Reunion We've Always Wanted

Star Wars Celebration 2025 just confirmed we’ll be getting our long-awaited Ghost crew reunion in Ahsoka season 2, and we cannot wait.

Though Zeb was physically absent from Ahsoka season 1, he was briefly mentioned. After Sabine Wren had found Ezra Bridger on Peridea, the two caught up, and Sabine informed Ezra about what the rest of the Ghost crew were up to while he was missing for nine years. This included telling Ezra that Zeb was working for the New Republic and training recruits. Prior to this reveal, audiences knew that Zeb was working as a pilot for the New Republic, but it was new information that he was training others.

Ahsoka Season 1 Could Never Give Us A Proper Rebels Reunion

There Was Just Too Much Chaos

Ahsoka was difficult because there were so many characters spread across multiple galaxies - and few of them stayed in one place. Ezra Bridger, for example, started in a different galaxy before traveling home to the main Star Wars galaxy. The same season saw Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren do the exact opposite, with the season ending with them stranded on Peridea. While most of the Ghost crew appeared in Ahsoka, they were never all together, and bringing Zeb into that chaos wouldn’t have been effective storytelling.

It's clear that Dave Filoni didn’t feel that Zeb was needed in Ahsoka season 1, and that his appearance would’ve only been for fan service and not because he would’ve brought anything important to the table. Zeb is a very good character, and he doesn’t deserve to be sidelined, so waiting to bring him in for when he can actually make an impact on the story was a good call. While it's difficult for fans to wait longer to get a full Ghost crew reunion, it will be worth it if all the characters live up to their best potential.

Ahsoka season 2 is currently in production.

Ahsoka Season 2 Can Finally Give Us The Rebels Reunion We Long For

It May Finally Feel Like Another Season of Rebels

Though Ahsoka was jokingly called Rebels season 5, Ahsoka season 2 really has the chance to live up to that by bringing all of the Ghost back together onscreen. Fans have been begging for more Rebels content, and amazingly, it may finally be happening, even in live-action. Ahsoka may be the title, but it’s clear that Dave Filoni is committed to making sure that the characters from Rebels get their moments to shine, and if that means waiting a season to see Zeb, then it’s probably worth the wait.

Ahsoka season 2 has the chance to outdo itself and become one of the best seasons of Star Wars television.

Fans have waited a long time to see Rebels characters onscreen again, and while Ahsoka wasn’t initially successful at getting these characters right and reunited, Ahsoka season 2 has the chance to outdo itself and become one of the best seasons of Star Wars television. By reuniting the Ghost crew, they will create a sense of community and family that we have rarely seen elsewhere, and it will add another level of storytelling that will make Ahsoka even more compelling from a storytelling point of view.
