Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Andor season 2, episodes 10-12Tony Gilroy has revealed where and how Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to get the Death Star plans into Alliance hands, some of Andor's other characters are primed to live on into the Galactic Civil War. To that end, it's been confirmed how some of the show's biggest characters fit into the galaxy's known future.

In an exclusive interview with ScreenRant's Ash Crossan, Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy shared his thoughts about where surviving characters fit into the future of the Star Wars timeline with A New Hope and the rest of the original trilogy. According to Gilroy, most of the characters have logical roles within the Rebel Alliance:

"I think Vel, her job is pretty clearly stated. She's a base commander at Yavin. I'm sure she's there all during Rogue and the rest of it. Mon Mothma, obviously, we know what's happened with her.

The Kleya thing… I love the way it was delivered, because it is very hard. There's things I would've loved to have her say that just would be inappropriate. They wouldn't fit. There'd be no way for her to say it, but to have her have this sort of Mona Lisa smile at the end, just the tiny touch of it as she realizes how responsible she is for everything that she's seeing all around her.

I mean, none of this stuff exists if she (Kleya) hadn't been the person and lived the life that she had and made the sacrifices that she had. No one will ever know that. No one may ever know that, except the people who watch the show, but to look around and she's so unhappy to be at Yavin, and it's been such a sad set of circumstances that have brought her there…

You sense that she's just seeing a little daylight and just starting to get her head around the pride. "

- Tony Gilroy, speaking to Ash Crossan

While Mon Mothma has an established role as a key leader of the Rebel Alliance and eventually becomes the New Republic's Chancellor following the Empire's defeat, it's exciting to see where Gilroy envisions other Andor characters during the original trilogy.

It's Even Possible Some Of Andor's Heroes Met Luke Skywalker

Vel, Kleya, Mon Mothma, and Wilmon Are All On Yavin...

Tony Gilroy reiterates that Andor season 2 establishes Vel as a base commander on Yavin, helping train and vet recruits to the Alliance cause. Likewise, Gilroy also imagines that there will eventually be a place for Kleya. Despite her initial reservations towards the Alliance based on their negative-leaning views on Luthen Rael (who died getting the Alliance intel about the Death Star), one can easily picture Kleya working within the Alliance's communications apparatus following Andor season 2 episodes 10-12.

Likewise, Wilmon will probably continue to work as a mechanic/engineer alongside Dreena, one of the few survivors of the Ghorman Massacre. With that in mind, it's more than likely that some, if not all of Andor's surviving Rebel characters might have met major Star Wars legacy characters at some point, such as Princess Leia, Han Solo, or perhaps even Luke Skywalker himself, one of the Rebellion's best pilots who finally destroys the Death Star in A New Hope, making good on an opportunity so many died and fought for in both Andor season 2 and Rogue One.

Our Take On The Andor Heroes' Future

We NEED Their Stories To Continue

Sadly, Andor season 2 was also the Star Wars series' last, having led right up to the events of Rogue One. That said, the unrevealed journeys of these surviving Rebel characters are stories that need to be told at some point. With any luck, Lucasfilm is already talking about potential spin-off projects for some of these characters with a desire to produce more grounded, Rebellion-focused shows, given Andor's immense success and popularity. After all, who wouldn't want to see some type of continuation series starring some of Andor's best characters who've become major fan-favorites?
