Star Wars movies and TV shows, it's true that some stories have fallen victim to fan service or weaker arcs.

The same cannot be said of Andor, especially Andor season 2, which made bold choices and avoided some of the pitfalls that exist within the franchise, such as a heavy focus on the Skywalker family even as Star Wars is meant to have moved on from that saga. Yet, that didn't prevent rumors from flying that Andor season 2 would use some of these very strategies, and it would absolutely have been to the show's detriment. Of those theories, I am particularly grateful that these four Andor season 2 theories weren't ultimately true.

4 Luthen Was Secretly A Jedi

This Theory Just Didn't Make Any Sense

One prominent Andor theory, especially throughout and following Andor season 1, was that Luthen could have been a Jedi. Specifically, many believed (especially based on the timing of Andor) that Luthen could be one of the Jedi survivors of Order 66. Hints that those who believed this theory pointed to included his collection of Jedi artifacts in his gallery, the fact that he had a kyber crystal, and even the suggestion that his cane could secretly contain a lightsaber—such as the one possessed by Tera Sinube.

Ultimately, I'm so relieved that Luthen Rael was not a Jedi. For one, that simply wasn't the purpose of Andor. This show intended to show how the average person fought back against the Empire, similar to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and making one of the most important characters in the show a secret Jedi would have undermined that. For another, this theory just didn't really make sense. Luthen had a key role to play in the fight against the Empire, and that didn't require him being a Jedi at all. Arguably, that would have cheapened his role.

3 Kleya Was Really Leia All Along

This Would Have Ruined Tony Gilroy's Vision For Andor

One of the biggest theories that emerged during Andor season 2 was the idea that Luthen's right-hand woman, Kleya, was really Princess Leia Organa herself. It's unclear precisely why this theory emerged, other than the idea that a connection to Leia such as this would have been exciting (and perhaps that their names were similar as well). It's also true that Leia was becoming more involved in the Rebel cause at this time, but that hardly made these stories work well together.

On the contrary, making Kleya secretly Princess Leia would have been such a disappointing turn for Andor. Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy has long been clear that this show wasn't interested in the so-called royal family of Star Wars; this plot twist would have reinforced exactly the opposite. In the end, the reveal that Kleya had become a daughter to Luthen was also so much more meaningful, and, yet again, it reinforced the true message of Andor: that small rebellions were ri everywhere, and they all mattered in the larger fight.

2 Kleya Was Cassian's Sister

Leaving Kerri's Fate Unknown Was More Realistic

Yet another Kleya theory—and one that at least made more sense than the Leia theory—was that she was Cassian's sister, Kerri, seen in some flashbacks throughout the show. This in part grew in popularity because Andor season 2 didn't confirm what had happened to Kerri, as many had been hoping the show would. This would have followed up on that storyline and perhaps even brought Cassian some peace and closure before his inevitable death in Rogue One.

Andor season 2 didn't confirm what had happened to Kerri, as many had been hoping the show would.

In the end, though, Andor season 2 left that story entirely unresolved, and that was such a better choice than making Kleya Cassian's sister. While it is tragic, leaving Kerri's fate unknown is so much more realistic, and it also shows the brutality of the Empire. The truth is, we'll likely never know what happened to Cassian's sister, and that is the reality of oppression, fascism, rebellion, and (eventually) war. It also feels new for Star Wars to leave a thread like this one hanging, so I was surprised but impressed that Andor decided to do so.

1 Dedra Died On The Death Star

Her Ending Was So Much More Satisfying

Dedra Meero was a brilliant character in Andor, and as the show approached its end, people grew increasingly curious about what her fate would be. Very few people speculated that she would be redeemed, as that seemed simply impossible. Ultimately, the part she played in the Ghorman Massacre solidified the fact that she really couldn't earn a redemption arc, especially with so few episodes to go. Because of this, a popular theory that emerged as Andor season 2 came to a close was that Dedra Meero was going to die on the Death Star.

Cassian Andor got the most brilliant revenge at the end of Andor season 2, and it's one of the most satisfying conclusions we've seen in Star Wars.

This theory made more sense than others, but Dedra's actual conclusion was so much more satisfying. Andor season 2 revealed that the Empire came to believe she was a traitor, and Orson Krennic himself had her thrown in prison—a prison very similar to the one Cassian was locked in during season 1. This was a much better ending for Dedra, as she realized too late that the Empire cared as little for her as it did for the rest of the galaxy. Of all the Andor season 2 theories, I'm so grateful these proved untrue.
