Star Wars' shows. In fact, at present, it's one of only two confirmed Star Wars shows, along with Ahsoka season 2.
With Star Wars Celebration 2025 just around the corner in April, there are likely a host of new shows about to be announced. In the meantime, though, it's been all eyes on Andor and Ahsoka. Now, with this brand-new Andor season 2 trailer, we have so much more insight into the details of this new season.
Yavin 4 Is Returning To The Screen
This Iconic Rebel Base Has Rarely Been Shown In Star Wars
One of the biggest reveals in the Andor season 2 trailer is that the iconic Rebel base on Yavin 4 is going to be making its on-screen return in Andor season 2. Despite Yavin 4's incredible significance in Star Wars, especially the Galactic Civil War, it has actually had very few on-screen appearances, particularly in live-action. Yavin 4 was first shown in A New Hope, then just called Star Wars.

"I Think It Makes The Galaxy Seem So Small": Why It Took Star Wars So Long To Go Back To Yavin 4, Addressed By George Lucas' Protégé
Yavin 4 is an iconic Star Wars location, but it's rarely been revisited. Dave Filoni explains why the Rebel Alliance base's absence was so important.
Since then, Yavin 4 has played a role in Star Wars Rebels and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but it really hasn't been a focal point since that very first movie. Now, that is likely to change, as Cassian Andor himself is shown on the base. This is exciting not only because it means Yavin 4 is about to be on the Star Wars screen once more but also because this suggests that Cassian will be much more involved in the Rebellion in Andor season 2.
This suggests that Cassian will be much more involved in the Rebellion in Andor season 2.
Andor Season 2 Will Be All About The Rebellion
The Song Of The Trailer Alone Suggests What The Focus Of Season 2 Will Be
The song played throughout the new Andor season 2 trailer makes it abundantly clear that war, revolution, and rebellion will be at the fore in this new season of the show. Throughout the trailer, "The revolution starts now" is sung over and over again, signaling that Andor season 2 will emphasize the Rebellion even more than Andor season 1 did. This makes sense, given Andor season 2 will lead directly into the events of Rogue One.

Andor Season 2's Place In The Star Wars Timeline Explained
Now that Andor season 2 is set to premiere in April 2025, here's where it fits into the Star Wars timeline and what that means for the story.
Andor season 1 already excelled, arguably more than any other Star Wars project to date, in representing the boots-on-the-ground efforts of the Rebellion. The original Star Wars trilogy of course depicted the Rebellion in detail, but those movies featured the heroes of the war, such as Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa. Andor, on the other hand, focuses on the everyday fighter, and that seems to be ramping up all the more in Andor season 2.
Cassian Is Wearing The Clothes He Will Die In
Cassian's Jacket And Shirt Look Awfully Familiar
Eagle-eyed viewers will notice that Cassian Andor's shirt and jacket in the Andor season 2 trailer look very familiar. Tragically, that is because Cassian is wearing the very shirt and jacket he will ultimately die in. This just goes to show how much Andor season 2 really will lead right into Rogue One, but it's also a beautiful—if devastating—way to foreshadow what's coming.
Cassian's story in Andor season 2 will have even more emotional weight because his fate is already determined. He will undoubtedly have all sorts of experiences in season 2 that audiences don't yet know about, but, in the end, he is destined to die in Rogue One. This trailer offers a nice subtle nod to that without making it the focus, which will hopefully hold true in the season itself as well.
Cassian Andor Has Stepped Up His Abilities
Cassian Seems So Much More Ready To Fight In The Season 2 Trailer
In addition to the trailer making it clear that Andor season 2 will place an even greater emphasis on the revolutionary nature of this era, it's also apparent that Cassian Andor has seriously stepped up his game as a Rebel fighter. In the trailer, Cassian can be heard saying, "We're in a war. You want to fight, or you want to win?" This line reflects how much more confident, serious, and determined Cassian is now.
It will be thrilling to see Cassian take on a brand-new edge in the new season. Rogue One revealed how brave and selfless a fighter Cassian was, right until the heartbreaking end, but Andor season 1 was focused on Cassian coming into his own. By the end of Andor season 1, Cassian had made major strides, but, based on the season 2 trailer, Cassian has only grown that much more between seasons 1 and 2.
Saw Gerrera Will Play A Major Role
Saw Gerrera Is Back Once Again
Saw Gerrera has now had countless appearances in Star Wars movies and TV shows, and, clearly, that won't be changing any time soon. In the Andor season 2 trailer, Gerrera encourages another Rebel by saying, " this moment. You're here. You're right here, and you're ready to fight!" Saw Gerrera has always been one of Star Wars' most intense fighters, and he will no doubt be taking that role even further in Andor season 2.
This also sets the stage for Gerrera's role in Rogue One, which makes sense given one of the biggest tasks Andor season 2 has is bridging the events of Andor season 1 and Rogue One. Saw Gerrera has always been a complex character, at times being too radical even for other of the Rebellion. In light of that, it will be especially interesting to learn more about Gerrera's efforts at this point in time.
Are We Seeing The Wedding Of Mon Mothma's Daughter?
Mon Mothma's Struggle With Her Culture Will Continue To Be Explored
One of the key aspects of Mon Mothma's arc in Andor season 1 was her struggle with the culture and traditions of her homeworld, Chandrila. This was especially true when it came to her daughter, who was much more traditional than Mon Mothma expected or wanted. This may come to a head in a major event, as it seems Mon Mothma is attending a massive Chandrilan party—perhaps her young daughter's own wedding.
If this is her daughter's wedding, this is likely to be a major story for Mon Mothma in Andor season 2. She was very against her daughter's more traditional ways in season 1, and she was facing an internal struggle because of it. Her daughter getting married, even if it's a few years after Andor season 1, would presumably be something Mon Mothma was unhappy about.
If this is her daughter's wedding, this is likely to be a major story for Mon Mothma in Andor season 2.
Andor Season 2 Is Playing Up The Sophistication
The Text And The Visuals Reinforce This New Focus
The trailer makes references to Andor's sophistication, not only by citing reviewers' comments about season 1 but also through visuals. Cassian Andor in particular has several moments in the trailer where his aesthetic has entirely changed. Toward the end of the trailer, Cassian looks downright dapper, a complete 180 from his look throughout Andor season 1 and Rogue One.
In all likelihood, this means Cassian has infiltrated Imperial circles and is wearing these clothes and taking on this appearance as a cover. It wouldn't be out of character for Cassian to take on such a role, but it does seem like he has once again stepped up his game in season 2, given how convincing this new look is. Even outside Cassian, it will be fascinating to see what a more sophisticated take on Andor could look like.
Director Krennic Is Back And Overseeing The Death Star
This Major Rogue One Villain Is Returning At Last
Director Krennic, though not as significant a threat as Darth Vader, was a major villain in Rogue One. However, he was absent from Andor season 1, to the disappointment of some viewers. The Andor season 2 trailer confirmed that Krennic is returning this season, though, and will be overseeing the construction of the Death Star.
The timing of this return makes plenty of sense. As Andor season 2 will lead right into Rogue One, the Death Star will be in the final stages of construction. It simply wouldn't make sense for Krennic to be absent in light of that timing. In addition to the logic of it, the news that Krennic is returning is exciting, as he proved to be a brilliant villain in Rogue One.
K-2SO Is Finally Back
This Beloved Star Wars Character Will Have A TV Show Debut
Yet another Rogue One character who was not in Andor season 1 is also making a return. The Andor season 2 trailer confirmed that the beloved droid K-2SO will be returning in the show's new season. K-2SO won audiences over with his humor and wit in Rogue One, so much so that he is largely considered one of Star Wars' best droids, right up there with C-3PO and R2-D2.
Because of that, many were disappointed to learn the droid was not in Andor season 1, and his return was long awaited, to say the least. This new trailer thrillingly confirms that the wait is about to finally be over. Although K-2SO's arc in Andor season 2 remains a mystery, it will be delightful to see him return to the Star Wars screen.
