The Clone Wars series continues to have a special place in fans' hearts.
The animated medium of a Clone Wars-esque series gives creators more freedom in of characters and action, making it the perfect way to tell new Star Wars stories that expand on the lore of the already massive universe. Several fans have taken to Reddit to pitch their ideas for a Clone Wars-style animated series, and their suggestions did not disappoint.
Old Republic
"We need an anthology series about the Old Republic," one Reddit by the name of The Phantom Menace."
There is already plenty of adaptable material from the Old Republic era of the Star Wars universe, both from the fan-favorite video game franchise and the recent series of canon novels exploring the age of the High Republic. There are even several already existing characters worthy of being explored, including Bastila Shan, who could carry a Star Wars spinoff series of her own.
Bounty Hunters
Redditor reverendball voices their desire for a series dealing with the bounty hunters of the Star Wars universe. "Just do random episodes/storylines," they write, regarding a bounty hunter anthology series, suggesting popular names like IG-88, Dengar, Bossk, Aurra Sing, 4-LOM, and more.
There are plenty of The Book of Boba Fett failed, not being tied down to one particular character for the entirety of the series.
Kal Skirata
One Reddit , Null8ColonelStan, suggests somewhat of a deep cut in the Star Wars franchise, asking for "something about Kal Skirata and the Null Batch ARC troopers, please." The aptly named Redditor's post refers to a character now deemed Legends who trained an elite group of Clone Troopers for the Republic before the Great Jedi Purge.
Though this is a particularly niche suggestion for an animated series, it would be the perfect spinoff to the classic Clone Wars series and would provide an outlet for clone voice actor Dee Bradley Baker to shine once more, as he has in several Star Wars animated series. However, if this show were to be made, the writers would have their work cut out for them in differentiating the story from that of The Bad Batch.
Salacious B. Crumb
Redditor Return of the Jedi.
Though the idea of a live-action series following Salacious B. Crumb is almost laughable, an animated spinoff wouldn't entirely be out of the question. The character's goofy nature might play well in the animated medium, especially if the series took a limited series format.
Wookies
Dirk_Courage has a single-word response to the question of which aspect of the Star Wars universe they want to see more of in its spinoff series: "Wookies." They refer, of course, to the hairy creatures that inhabit the forest planet of Kashyyyk, the most famous of which happens to be Rebel hero Chewbacca.
A series revolving around Wookies would face a major hurdle from the very beginning, given the species' inability to speak Basic. Skilled storytellers would be able to surmount this issue, but would then be forced to walk a very thin line to ensure that such a spinoff wouldn't begin to eerily resemble a certain Holiday Special within the Star Wars franchise.
Boba's Early Days
AgentHellion pitches a series about "Boba Fett's early days," suggesting that the storyline should take that cues from the canceled Star Wars: 1313 game. They also offer the possibility of Daniel Logan returning to play the younger version of the iconic bounty hunter.
Even after The Book of Boba Fett, there are still plenty of questions about the titular bounty hunter, especially concerning his early days during and immediately after the Clone Wars. A spinoff series set during this time would be able to expand on the character in a way that many fans were hoping The Book of Boba Fett would and could provide an outlet for Boba Fett to engage in the bounty hunter activity that he was famous for.
Delta Squad
Ma4vin suggests that the "Delta Squad" could make for an engaging spinoff series in the vein of The Clone Wars. The Delta Squad is a team of clone troopers that acted as the Republic's special missions task force. The concept was first introduced in the Legend video game Star Wars: Republic Commando and the team has since been mentioned in canon.
A spinoff series set during the Clone Wars could give breathing room for this concept to finally be fully realized in canon, and would allow fans who grew up with the prequels and Clone Wars animated series to return to the classic era that those stories were based in, with potential remaining for cameos from popular characters like Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ahsoka Tano.
Less Jedi-Centric Stories
SuperSyrias has a profound hope for the future of the franchise in following "less Jedi-centric stories." They write about their desire to see more nuanced views of the Force than those of the Jedi or the Sith. They suggest stories set "1000 years before the Empire," where the galaxy was far less black-and-white than what is presented in the Skywalker Saga.
The Last Jedi presented a different way for audiences to look at the Force, bringing into question the philosophies of the Jedi Order. A spinoff series should further explore such an idea, in the age of the High Republic, where the Force didn't belong to the Jedi or the Sith but was used in a more wholesome fashion.
The Galactic Civil War
Redditors Rogue One."
Such a show could do for the Original Trilogy what The Clone Wars did for the prequels in fleshing out the period and adding key story elements that would expand the lore of the series. Though no such series has been announced, fans can still hold out hope that the perhaps connect to the Original Trilogy in several surprising ways.
Post-Return Of The Jedi
"I think a series that picks up right after Return of the Jedi would be best," writes LaBeteNoire, "Luke searching the galaxy for Force-sensitive individuals to rebuild the Jedi, with a hidden figure in the background trying to undermine his efforts."
A series with this storyline could fill in some of the gaps in Luke Skywalker's life from the time between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. It could even explore the fall of Ben Solo, as he slowly became a servant of the Dark Side and took on the mantle of Kylo Ren. Viewers have already gotten subtle hints at what a show following Luke and his new Jedi Academy could look like in the Jon Favreau-produced Disney+ series--and such a concept is enough to get fans salivating.
