Anakin Skywalker's apprentice, Ahsoka, could potentially return in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, fans were taken aback. They struggled to figure out how she fitted in Anakin Skywalker's personal timeline, and initially objected to her character as being irritating.
Over the years, however, Ahsoka won them over. It helps that Ashley Eckstein is both a tremendous voice-actress and a die-hard fan herself, and she gave the image of simply being a member of the The Mandalorian.
Naturally, this is leading to some speculation Ahsoka could appear in the next Star Wars animated series, Star Wars: The Bad Batch. This stars Clone Force 99, an elite group of Clone Troopers who have become mercenaries after the rise of the Empire. This was the beginning of the Dark Times, a period relatively unexplored in Star Wars canon, when all hope seemed to have been lost and future Resistance leaders were struggling to figure out how to oppose Palpatine.
Ahsoka's story in this period was previously explored in EK Johnston's novel Ahsoka, but the beginning of that book has already been season 7, so its canonicity is open to debate. In any case, Ahsoka only shows the former Jedi Apprentice attempting to live a quiet life but realizing she can't simply ignore the evils of the Empire. This could actually set her up for a role in Star Wars: The Bad Batch, where she could be working in the shadows, helping organize elements of the galactic underworld in opposition to the Empire. As mercenaries, the Bad Batch would be moving through exactly the same kind of circles as Ahsoka.
Ahsoka's presence would actually add an important element to Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Given the series is set at a time when the Rebellion was only in its earliest days, and when the might of the Empire was unchallenged, this has the potential to be the darkest Star Wars show to date. Hope is an integral part of the Star Wars franchise, and Ahsoka would add that, reminding viewers the Empire would only rule for so long before they would be overthrown.
