The elite strike team known as Clone Force 99 has become a household name thanks to Star Wars: The Bad Batch, but now a new comic series will follow the titular heroes through the seediest corners of the galaxy, in the earliest days of the Clone Wars.

Screen Rant is pleased to offer an exclusive preview of Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories - The Bad Batch: Ghost Agents #1. The five-issue Dark Horse series arrives February 5, 2025 from Michael Moreci, Reese Hannigan, and Elisabetta D'Amico, and sees the squad hunt down a mysterious Separatist ghost agent who executed a daring heist on Coruscant. It's said the Bad Batch has a 100% success rate, but for this mission, they may have met their match.

Clone Force 99 is an experimental clone force unit consisting of five , designed with specific genetic mutations to give them an advantage in battle. The leader, Hunter, has enhanced sensory abilities. Wrecker has an enhanced muscular form, Tech has enhanced mental capacity and intelligence, and Crosshair has keen eyesight and marksmanship. In the first issue alone, on the Screen Rant exclusive unlettered preview pages, the Batch is seen hiking to the peak of a snowy mountain, Hunter and Wrecker walk through what appears to be the lower levels of Coruscant, and Hunter attempts ro deescalate a situation before it turns into an all out bar fight (not that he can't handle himself in one should the need arise). Story details are slim aside from the official synopsis, but we have our suspicions about the mysterious figure the Bad Batch will be hunting.

Our Take on The Bad Batch: Ghost Agents

Fans are About to See a Whole New Side to the Bad Batch

The Bad Batch has already been shown near the end of the Clone Wars, but this series heads into a whole new part of the Star Wars timeline for the Batch, including interactions with classic Clone Wars characters like Embo... and possibly Asajj Ventress. Ventress makes an appearance in The Bad Batch season three, and the Batch seem to know she's bad news. Now that the mysterious agent they're hunting in this series is teased to be a dark side force , it could explain their familiarity with Asajj.

If the mysterious ghost agent really is Asajj Ventress, the Bad Batch is up for a lot more than a mountain hike and a bar fight in the lower levels of Coruscant. In the meantime, Clone Force 99's missions will be illustrated with stunning art, gorgeous lights, and bright colors by talented artists Hannigan, D'Amico, and Favoccia. Unlike other clones, their black and red armor will stand out against the snowy background, which is an amazing choice of location for this squad.
