  • While not the 2017 reboot, the original Battlefront II version runs smoothly and offers plenty of variety for players to enjoy.

The beloved shooter Star Wars: Battlefront II is the latest free offering from Prime Gaming as players are offered an opportunity to battle for the fate of the galaxy in the classic 2005 game. While it may not be the more modern reboot that launched in 2017, the original still has plenty to give to those willing to put up with some of its janky systems. Of course, that's not all that subscribers can expect in June as the service is also rolling out some additional indie hits that should keep s busy for many weeks.

Per Prime Gaming's official blog, June's games include some fantastic titles which will be released over the course of the entire month:

  • Star Wars: Battlefront II (2005) - June 6
  • Weird West Definitive Edition - June 6
  • Genesis Noir - June 6
  • Everdream Valley - June 13
  • Mythforce - June 13
  • Blast Brigade - June 13
  • Projection: First Light - June 13

Battlefront II is undoubtedly the biggest inclusion for subscribers not least of all because it offers such a wide variety of playstyles and experiences. Not only does it sport a legendary multiplayer mode that pits opposing forces from the Star Wars franchise against one another, but its' Galactic Conquest mode should also appeal to players looking for some more strategy.

Those who may already own Battlefront II, which will likely be a great many people, can instead look forward to playing Weird West, an isometric action RPG set in a dark fantasy world populated by gunslingers and bandits. Released in 2022, the game earned stellar reviews for its excellent atmosphere, presentation, and immersive writing that enabled players to approach situations from multiple angles. The combat may not appeal to everyone but the narrative is strong enough that players will likely want to see it through to the end.

Another game that prides itself on presentation is Genesis Noir by developer Feral Cat Den. While it may not have been a mainstream hit, the unique graphical style, soundtrack, and surreal premise should leave a lasting impression on those who dare to take a leap on this whimsically bizarre point-and-click adventure game. Playing as No Man, a watch peddler, players will need to help the luckless romantic figure his way out of a strange love triangle between two cosmic deities.

Star Wars: Battlefront II may not be the modern multiplayer some players were expecting after Prime Video dished out the resurrected Fallout 76, but it's nonetheless an excellent experience. Better yet, it's also the original version rather than the Classic Collection which was released in early 2024 to disastrous reviews. It may lack a couple of additional maps and heroes, but at least the classic form smoothly on nearly every system.
