Star Wars Battlefront 2 has seen a resurgence in recent months. As demand for a sequel increases, the game continues to draw Star Wars fans for its heavy use of lore and story beats from the first six movies. The single-player campaign takes place between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens and follows the new character Iden Versio, intrepid commander of the Inferno Squad. A multiplayer element takes the battle between factions across various locations in the universe.

Fans loved the original experience so much that a petition to create a third game in the series has reached over 9,000 signatures. Until EA Games or DICE decide to release another installment in the Battlefront series, fans can make use of the thousands of mods available for the game to turn it into a brand-new experience with new content, visual tweaks, and other game-changing updates.

10 Ortho's 4K Clone Legions

Experience The Clone Wars In High Definition

Created by Orthohex and Slypear on Nexus Mods, this mod lovingly recreates game assets in painstaking detail. The mod adds new textures to every clone, making the experience as photo-realistic and like the movie as possible.

Okay, When Did Star Wars Battlefront 2 Actually Get Good?

Star Wars Battlefront 2 had a rocky launch, and was written off as a bad game. But in light of its resurging player count, it’s time to reevaluate.

The visual upgrades include weathering on all clone armor, done by layering dirt and wear over every piece of armor. The mod also takes into consideration how light would interact with these armor pieces, making the un-weathered patches more reflective to mimic how the surface would behave in the real world. Officers and troopers are also given new outfits to resemble their appearance in the movies.

9 Mandalorian Boba Fett Overhaul

Fight Alongside Screen-Accurate Version Of Boba Fett

The popular 2019 series The Mandalorian debuted after Battlefront 2, but you can still play alongside an accurate portrayal of Boba Fett as he appears in the series, thanks to this mod by must-have for any Mandalorian fan.

The mod adds the character's appearance from Season 2 of the show, including both the "damaged" and "painted" versions of the armor. Players can even unmask both versions of Boba Fett if they prefer the "helmet off" look. Finally, the mod includes Fett's pistol addon, giving the iconic weapon its own animation and audio for full immersion.

8 SmallerHUD

Customize The Screen Overlays To Your Preferences

The HUD (or Heads Up Display) of a game is incredibly important for developers to get right, since players will be stuck staring at it for the majority of the game. The base Battlefront 2 game already has several built-in customization options for players to tweak the appearance of their screen, but the SmallerHUD mod, made by Nexus Mods Szaby59, adds even more options.

The mod does many things to improve the game's HUD, starting with fixing the text scaling to work with displays of 1440p and up. Aside from this fix, the mod includes visibility sliders and toggles and scales, and reduces how much space the UI takes up on players' screens. Objective Markers, progress bars, crosshairs, logs, warning displays, and more can also be modified through this mod, giving players full control over their game's look and feel.

7 Saga Edition

A New Twist On Classic Game Modes And Heroes

Created by Spiret on Mod DB, this mod is so large that its creators made a dedicated new game launcher for it. The mod adds new game modes, bringing the total number of modes you can play up to 15. Some of the new game types you can partake in include new team death matches, extended versions of classic existing modes, cross-era clashes, and plenty of other fun matches to keep things fresh for fans who grow tired of the existing modes.

Original Star Wars Battlefront 2 designer Dan Nanni has explained that Pandemic Studios started work on the third game, but were only given one year.

Aside from the new game modes, the Saga Edition mod also adds new units, maps, heroes, and more. This mod is ideal for fans who have already played Battlefront 2 for a long time and are looking for a new way to enjoy the title.

6 TRON: The Grid

Turn Battlefront 2 Into A Game Of TRON

Visual mods change the appearance of characters in games to nearly anything else, but this Tron-themed mod by ForceMaster14 on ModDB takes things to the next level. As the trailer from ForceMaster BFII on YouTube shows, the mod doesn't just change the way Battlefront 2 looks, but also the way that it plays.

The mod lets players enter the Grid and play as Sentries, drive lightcycles and other Tron vehicles, and explore areas from the Tron universe like Tron City, Simulation Sea, Disc Arena, and more. The mod introduces 13 game modes that pluck the characters out of the Star Wars universe and into the virtual world of Tron, complete with lightsuits and cycles. Players are also equipped with light discs in place of lightsabers, with the final modded game feeling like a completely new title from a different franchise.

5 Realistic Overhaul

Create A More Realistic Gameplay Experience

Battlefront 2 is already fairly realistic, or as realistic as a game based around sci-fi space battles. But if you'd like to turn the game into an even more realistic experience, this mod from the mod updates the gameplay and several visual elements of the base game, making it even more like the movies. The mod changes some features to be more realistic, including health regeneration, weapon damage and recoil, vehicles, and explosions.

It also adds friendly fire, removes map boundaries, adds a stamina element, and even cleans up the UI, removing name tags and health markers for enemies to provide a more immersive experience meant to create a "more brutal, film-accurate, hardcore experience." The modders pay a lot of attention to the smaller details, adding scorch marks for lightsaber hits, preventing the eventual disappearance of dead enemy bodies, and even removing any sounds that aren't immersive or realistic.

4 Instant Action Overhaul

Have A Blast With New Game Modes

The Instant Action Overhaul mod by Mophead on Nexus Mods doesn't just change the way the game plays, it also adds several completely new game modes. Installing this mod gives you access to new modes like the deathmatch Blast, Heroes Versus Villains, Extraction, and more.

I couldn't be happier with Battlefront 3's resurgence, but a true-to-form sequel wouldn't feel complete without a few major overhauls and additions.

The mod completely reworks the way AI acts within these modes for a more challenging offline experience. Overall, the mod doubles the number of game modes, allows players to match up any heroes regardless of the era, and upgrades AI to be less predictable and therefore more interesting to battle.

3 Battlefront Expanded - Instant Action

A Huge Content Pack For Fans Who Want Something New

This massive mod from the Battlefront Expanded Team on Nexus Mods adds a huge amount of new content and characters to the Instant Action offline mode in Battlefront 2. The mod adds 71 new Heroes, Villains, and Reinforcements, all fully playable in the offline modes of the title, and a small handful even include voice acting. The excellent lineup includes a collection of beloved franchise characters and even some meme characters like Darth Jar Jar.

This pack is just one part of the large Battlefront Expanded project, including the Kyber version of the Instant Action mod. This mod, also available on Nexus Mods, adds all 71 new playable characters to the mod-friendly online mode for Star Wars: Battlefield 2.

2 Battlefront III Alpha

The Unofficial Fan-Made Sequel To Battlefront 2

While you wait for the official Battlefront 3 (if it ever happens), the fan-made continuation of the Battlefront series adds 22 new lightsaber heroes (11 Heroes and 11 Villains), and gives all playable characters—including ones from the base game—a fourth ability to refresh gameplay with a new element.

The mod also introduces two new gameplay elements, Force Flips and Force Speed, which change the pace of combat. The mod is currently undergoing Alpha testing, so it may still be ironing out some bugs. Ultimately, though, the team has ambitious plans for the project, with the roap revealing that the devs hope to eventually introduce over 100 new characters.

1 Battlefront 2022 (BF2022)

Enough Content For Two New Games

Battlefront 2022, as the name suggests, was originally ed to Nexus Mods in 2022 by PGmodding, a team consisting of s PianoBoy1764 and this_guy446. The description calls the fan-made content pack "one of the largest mods to ever be created," and with over 50 new characters and other content additions, it certainly does add a lot of new content for fans to enjoy.

The new characters added in this mod can be used both in Instant Action and Kyber servers, so you can play solo or against others in the modding community. Each character has a full range of unique abilities, weapons, models, UI, and more. Three years after its release, this mod remains one of the most popular Star Wars Battlefront 2 mods ever created for the popular Star Wars title.
