A 28-year-old Book of Boba Fett season 2. While the recent Star Wars series detailing Boba Fett's survival and life after Return of the Jedi had some very exciting moments, there were some issues with its overall execution and where the show left the iconic former bounty hunter. However, adapting a classic Legends story might be the way to get Boba Fett back to the character Star Wars love.
The Book of Boba Fett reveals how Fett survived the Sarlacc Pit, and how he reclaimed his Mandalorian armor. The rest of the show then follows Boba Fett's mission to take over Jabba the Hutt's empire as Tatooine's new daimyo, choosing to rule through respect rather than fear. However, the execution of this arc received very mixed reactions, and many were unhappy with Boba Fett effectively becoming nothing more than a Mos Espa mayor. However, one theory suggests Legends' Jodo Kast could get Boba back to form in a possible Book of Boba Fett season 2.
Jodo Kast Impersonated Boba Fett In Star Wars Legends
Wearing Similar Armor To Gain Higher Payouts
Jodo Kast was initially created for Star Wars roleplaying games before an official short story and one-shot comic from Dark Horse was written in the mid-nineties. According to his Legends history, Kast was once a member of Rebel Alliance SpecOps who only really cared about getting paid rather than fighting for a free galaxy. Eventually, Jodo Kast would get the idea to secure his very own set of Mandalorian armor and start a lackluster bounty-hunting career.
Once Kast learned that Boba Fett was reportedly dead on Tatooine in the aftermath of Return of the Jedi, Kast saw an opportunity and broke the Bounty Hunter's Code. Jodo took Boba's name and repainted his armor to look nearly identical to Fett's, effectively using the legendary hunter's reputation and legacy to get higher payouts. Naturally, the still-living Boba Fett eventually responded to Kast's insulting activity by setting a trap in 5 ABY, one that saw Jodo losing his life after Fett detonated his jetpack, reclaiming his legacy once and for all.
There's Clues Jodo Kast Might Exist In Star Wars Canon
Mandalore's House Kast Is A Big One
While Jodo Kast and his story are currently part of non-canon Legends, there are some hints that he might still exist in the established Star Wars continuity. The biggest comes from the fact that Mandalore did have a House Kast which was revealed in 2017's Star Wars Rebels season 4. As such, this Mandalorian family name was likely inspired by Jodo Kast himself, though very little has been revealed about this particular house in the years since.

The Mandalorian Clans & Houses Explained, Completely & Succinctly
Here are all the Mandalorian houses and clans we know about in the established Star Wars canon (including Din Djarin and Grogu's clan of two).
Additionally, 2020's Clone Wars season 7 depicted the A New Hope's Doctor Evazan. The same could be just as true in the canon, as there hasn't been anything new to dispute the event.
In Legends, Grand iral Thrawn himself once posed as Jodo Kast to get close to the Black Sun syndicate.
Keeping all that in mind, a Jodo Kast in the established Star Wars timeline could perhaps be a disgraced Mandalorian who cares very little about honor, creed, or codes. Like his Legends counterpart, he'd truly be the antithesis of what it means to be a genuine Mandalorian warrior. It would make him perfect for The Book of Boba Fett season 2.
Theory: Jodo Kast Could Motivate Boba Fett To Reclaim His Legacy In Season 2
Leaving Tatooine And Realigning With The Boba Fett Fans Really Want
Someone like a canonical Jodo Kast debuting in The Book of Boba Fett season 2 could be very exciting. It's not hard to imagine a scenario in which Boba learns that there's an impostor who's been tarnishing his former legacy as a bounty hunter. After all, Jodo Kast wasn't a very good bounty hunter, hence his decision in Legends to pose as Fett to begin with.
"Boba Fett would then be able to do what he used to do best: tracking down a target who needs to be eliminated..."
As such, Jodo Kast pretending to be Boba could potentially force the true Fett to don his armor and leave Tatooine behind to secure his reputation and the legacy Boba shared with his father Jango in the Star Wars timeline. At the very least, it could be a dynamic way to start the second season as a natural means of getting Boba Fett away from his role as Mos Espa's daimyo. Boba Fett would then be able to do what he used to do best: tracking down a target who needs to be eliminated.

The Book Of Boba Fett Season 2: Updates, Renewal, & Everything We Know
The Book of Boba Fett gave one of the most popular Original Trilogy characters their time in the spotlight - but will Boba Fett be back for season 2?
There could certainly be a larger narrative that then comes into play, but that concept alone could do wonders in of getting Boba Fett back to form as the iconic bounty hunter fans know and love, rather than the version of Fett viewers were left with which was fairly controversial. At any rate, one can hope that Lucasfilm eventually does something with Boba Fett in the near future. As one of the most popular Star Wars characters of all time, there has to be something new and far more legendary that can be done with Boba beyond what was seen in The Book of Boba Fett's first season.
