New details have been revealed about Boba Fett's journey from Bespin to Tatooine to deliver Han Solo was not smooth sailing. Teasers have revealed the legendary bounty hunter actually loses his prize along the way, and everyone wants to claim the frozen Solo for themselves. Additionally, it won't just be Fett's fellow and equally dangerous hunters going after Solo either. The Rebel Alliance and Empire will want Solo as well. As such, War of the Bounty Hunters promises to be a major never before seen chapter in the Skywalker saga.
While the main event issues will be written by flagship Star Wars writer Charles Soule, every title set in the galaxy far, far, away will be affected, with each of its writers offering different pieces to the narrative. Soule himself has communicated some pretty big excitement in this regard in an interview with Star Wars.com:
My co-writers on this story, and all of the great artists that we’re working with, it’s a fantastic team. This might’ve come from my brain to a degree, but we’re all adding things to it, and we’re all adding really interesting things to it. Everybody’s getting to tell their own story within this over-arching plot of Boba Fett trying to get what’s his.
While a collection of prelude issues will be releasing in May, War of the Bounty Hunters #1 and the first wave of tie-in issues will release the following month. Thanks to Marvel's latest solicitations, Star Wars fans can now get an idea of what to expect from these first few chapters as well. Without a doubt, War of the Bounty Hunters promises to be a massively interconnected narrative of epic proportions, and it looks as though Boba Fett is going to facing a massive gauntlet if he hopes to reclaim Han Solo and deliver him to Jabba the Hutt on Tatooine. While hunters such as Dengar, IG-88, Zuckuss, and the debut of Durge's return back into the canon obviously want to get their hands on Solo so they can get paid instead, the Rebels are going to be just as desperate to recover their friend in the event, not to mention the interest of Darth Vader himself in capturing Solo, most likely to use him as bait to draw out his son Luke. Regardless, Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters is going to be huge, and these June issues are only the beginning of the event that will be going through October. As such, it's not going to be an event Star Wars fans will want to miss from Marvel Comics.
