Two post-Order 66 Jedi who have yet to meet in Star Wars’ New Republic storytelling. Ezra’s transition to live-action, in particular, was an incredible feat. Eman Esfandi embodies Ezra to a T.

Cal Kestis (Cameron Monaghan), a Jedi whose canonical story plays out in the Star Wars Jedi games, is just as hopeful and creative as Ezra, using his powers to try and help the galaxy one planet at a time. These Jedi have more in common, too – both have struggled with grief and the pull of the dark side, leaning on their friends and forming attachments to sustain and motivate them.

The Cal Kestis & Ezra Bridger Actors Are Real-Life Friends

It’s high time Cal Kestis and Ezra Bridger met in Star Wars. After all, Eman Esfandi and Cameron Monaghan seem to be friends in real life, too. Earlier this year, a picture was shared on social media of the two of them hanging out together, sparking many fans’ imaginations. If they have a great rapport off-screen, why not on-screen? What would a team-up between Ezra and Cal look like? How would they be able to help each other grow and learn? How might they influence each other’s dueling styles? There are so many possibilities.

As Star Wars continues to expand and lean into an interconnected universe, having Cal and Ezra meet up in the galaxy during the New Republic era has become more and more plausible. Cal’s story in the Star Wars Jedi games hasn’t come to an end yet, and with Ezra back in the franchise’s primary galaxy – without Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren – the New Republic will need all the Jedi allies it can get as Grand iral Thrawn, one of the Empire’s most cunning and ruthless leaders, makes his presence known in the Outer Rim and beyond once more.

This Duo Would Prove A True Threat To Grand iral Thrawn

Though Grand iral Thrawn is an undeniably skilled tactician, he has one weakness – he doesn’t understand the true nature of the Jedi. Ezra Bridger was able to defeat him in Star Wars Rebels season 4 by sacrificing his future with his friends to give Lothal and the Rebellion a fighting chance, a move that Thrawn never saw coming. Though Thrawn is unlikely to make that same mistake again, he might be thrown off if Ezra were to team up with someone equally creative, self-sacrificing, optimistic, and headstrong. Enter Cal Kestis.

Though Grand iral Thrawn is an undeniably skilled tactician, he has one weakness – he doesn’t understand the true nature of the Jedi.

After Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Cal is in a tough spot. He’s dealing with the loss of two Jedi mentors and his allies, and the betrayal of someone he considered a friend. Years later, Cal would undoubtedly be willing to do anything to stop the Empire from gaining a foothold in the galaxy again, and teaming up with Ezra Bridger would be the perfect way to do so. These two Jedi don’t hold back. They love, they lose, and they pick themselves up again, all traits that Thrawn, even after all he’s been through, would have a hard time dealing with in Star Wars.
