Star Wars Celebration 2022 is set to commence May 26 and is sure to bring plenty of new announced three new Star Wars games in January, confirming the long-awaited sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order, as well as an untitled FPS and strategy game. No further information surrounding those projects has been forthcoming in the months since, although rumors are indicating that more official reveals will arrive in May - either on May 4 (aka Star Wars day) or at Celebration itself.

After a relatively sparse line-up of releases in the 2010s, due largely to publisher Electronic Arts having exclusive access to the Star Wars license, the emergence of Lucasfilm Games has led to an increased number of in-development Star Wars titles. EA, while still publishing Star Wars games made by developer Respawn Entertainment, no longer has an exclusive deal with Disney, and other game studios such as Ubisoft, Aspyr, and - controversially - Quantic Dream now have titles set in the galaxy far, far away in development. Not every in-development Star Wars game has been officially confirmed, however, while others that have are yet to receive any kind of gameplay trailer.

Star Wars Celebration 2022 marks a big milestone for George Lucas' creation, marking 45 years since the first film released in cinemas in 1977. While no new Star Wars film will premiere to mark the occasion, there are other ways Lucasfilm can make 2022 a big year for the franchise. Numerous TV shows are set to air on Disney+ over the course of the year, including Kenobi and Ahsoka, and games can also contribute to the festivities both at Celebration and afterward. Jedi: Fallen Order 2 is rumored to release in the final quarter of 2022, so it would make sense for it to receive a full reveal in May at Celebration, along with other in-development titles.

Star Wars Celebration 2022 - Jedi: Fallen Order 2 Could Be Revealed

It's unlikely any Jedi: Fallen Order characters will appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi, but the two projects may reference each other's narratives.

Following its official confirmation from EA and Respawn in January, reports are indicated that the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is set to release either later in 2022 or in 2023. It's also presumed that the sequel will drop "Fallen Order" from the title, similar to the Star Wars: Jedi Knight games from the early 2000s. Either way, with the game's purported release window in mind, it would make a lot of sense for it to receive an official announcement at Star Wars Celebration.

In fact, reports indicate that the reveal for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 will be coming around that time. Jeff Grubb said on his GrubbSnax podcast back in January that fans should "expect to hear about the game in a significant way before E3", while known Star Wars insiders Bespin Bulletin claimed that Respawn's "goal" is to "officially unveil footage [of Fallen Order 2] at Star Wars Celebration 2022." Both Grubb and Bespin Bulletin have a good track record of revealing key industry details and events, and given EA officially confirmed the existence of the Fallen Order sequel shortly after these reports, it would appear as if it's on track for a reveal sometime in May.

Not much at all is known about the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel, apart from that it was greenlit shortly after the first game's release. It is expected to follow the same characters introduced in Fallen Order, with protagonist Cal Kestis likely to continue his journey as a Jedi Knight on the run from the Empire. Jedi: Fallen Order 2 could be darker than the first game if it follows the tradition of other Star Wars sequels, but for now its plot remains a secret.

KOTOR Remake Could Appear At Star Wars Celebration

Star Wars KOTOR High Republic

Next to the Jedi: Fallen Order sequel, Aspyr's Knights of the Old Republic remake is probably the most anticipated Star Wars game. The original BioWare developed KOTOR is widely considered the greatest Star Wars game ever made, and one of the greatest games of all time full-stop, so it's understandable as to why hype for the remake is high. Prior to developing the remake Aspyr worked on ports and remasters of classic LucasArts Star Wars games, including Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy and Republic Commando. KOTOR marks the studio's first original Star Wars title, and while an official release date is yet to be given, it could be that Aspyr reveals gameplay of the remake at Star Wars Celebration in May.

The KOTOR remake is reportedly targeting a 2023 release, slightly later than the earliest estimation for Jedi: Fallen Order 2, but that doesn't mean an appearance at Star Wars Celebration can be ruled out. There's still no word on what the gameplay of the KOTOR remake will look like, and a big question remains over whether it will retain the original's turn-based combat or adopt Final Fantasy 7's approach and aim for more traditional action. A trailer that revealed gameplay at Star Wars Celebration could end up being a real highlight of this year's event - especially if it called back to iconic moments from the BioWare original.

Other Star Wars Game Reveals That Could Happen At Celebration

Apart from the already announced Knights of the Old Republic remake and the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, there are other games that could also see reveals at Star Wars Celebration 2022. Ubisoft's open-world Star Wars game was revealed at the beginning of 2021 but no new information surrounding the project has come to light since, apart from the occasional job listing, which has hinted at some level of vehicular gameplay. There've been no reports indicating what stage of development the project is in either, meaning that it's possibly further away than both Jedi: Fallen Order 2 and Aspyr's KOTOR remake. This may make a reveal at Celebration unlikely, but it's impossible to rule out at this stage.

Other Star Wars projects that could see further reveals include Star Wars Eclipse, which was first announced by developer Quantic Dream at the end of 2021. Star Wars Eclipse is allegedly facing development trouble and has faced backlash from large sections of the Star Wars fanbase due to past alleged comments from studio head David Cage, as well as accusations of a toxic workplace environment at the company. It's possible that it could show up again at Celebration 2022, but given that its first trailer was only a few months ago in December, it may be unlikely.

Star Wars Celebration 2022 is shaping up to be another mammoth event for Lucasfilm, and games could receive a key focus. Both Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 and the Knights of the Old Republic remake are highly anticipated, and there's a chance that both games could be at the event. Announcements for other Star Wars game projects seem less certain currently, but given the resurgence of Lucasfilm Games, it could be that brand-new reveals for unannounced titles will happen as well.
