Many planned episodes of Star Wars Celebration 2025, where Lucasfilm Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni talked about the crew's experience working on the show. He then transitioned into talking about one of the most popular unproduced arcs.
The new footage shows an incomplete animatic version of a scene involving young Boba. Cad Bane and his droid Todo are on Coruscant while Boba flies through traffic, only to be pursued by Anakin. Boba shoots down Anakin's speeder, and the two engage in a fierce duel that ends with Boba getting away. Anakin talks to Mace Windu on a communicator and its that he hasn't found the assassins yet, now that the young bounty hunter has escaped:
This clip reveals a new side to Boba and Cad Bane's arc, facing off against the Jedi at the heart of the Republic. It's also fascinating to see Anakin fighting Boba directly, years before he would eventually hire him as Darth Vader.
Why Was The Boba Fett Arc Cut?
The Clone Wars was canceled when Disney bought Star Wars
Like many unproduced episodes of The Clone Wars, this Boba Fett arc was canceled when Disney bought Star Wars. Shortly after the season 5 finale aired in 2013, Disney announced that The Clone Wars would be one of many projects winding down to make room for new endeavors. A shortened season 6 premiered a year later on Netflix, but several planned episodes were forever left incomplete.

Every Unaired Clone Wars Arc, Ranked
Star Wars: The Clone Wars may have been brought back for a seventh season, but several planned arcs were never released as fully completed episodes.
Will We Ever See This Boba Fett Arc?
It may have been teased as a possibility
As fascinating as this Boba Fett arc may have been, many fans have long accepted that it would probably never be released in any form. A few clips have been shown over the years, as well as a basic description of the plot, but that seemed to be the most we could hope for. However, when the new footage was shown at Star Wars Celebration, Filoni had a very interesting comment on the subject:
"This is from a story that'll probably never happen... well, maybe..."
As contradictory as Filoni's words may seem, this is hardly the first time he's teased his plans in this manner. Following the season 2 finale of Star Wars Rebels, Filoni said there was a slim chance Ahsoka Tano's story would continue, which eventually came true in Star Wars Rebels season 4. While he may simply be leaving his options open, it could be another not-so-subtle tease of what fans can expect.
After all, other unfinished Clone Wars episodes were eventually released, most notably with the seventh and final season on Disney+. There was also the Clone Wars Legacy project, which adapted certain arcs into Star Wars novels, comics, and story reels, so it's not out of the question to see something like that. Either way, this is an exciting new reveal for fans of Star Wars: The Clone Wars with the potential for something more down the road.
