The Star Wars galaxy, vast and ever-expanding, holds countless characters ripe for live-action adaptations. While some characters have already made the leap, many more figures from the comics deserve their moment in the spotlight. Fans eagerly await the chance to see these beloved characters brought to life, adding deeper layers to the ever-expanding live-action lineup of series and films.
From complex Jedi to flat-out villains, the potential for captivating narratives is endless. But the question remains: which characters will Lucasfilm choose to grace our screens next, and how will their stories unfold in this ever-evolving saga? Here are five characters from Star Wars comics that need to be brought to life in live-action.
Doctor Aphra
The Smart-Talking Archeologist With A Knack For Getting In Trouble
Out of all the possible characters in the vast Star Wars canon that have not yet been adapted into live-action, Doctor Aphra is a necessity. Created by Kiero Gillen and Salvador Larroca, Chelli Aphra is what you’d get if you crossed Han Solo with Indiana Jones and dialed the moral ambiguity up to 10. She is an unapologetic, fearless, if not impulsive, archeologist who can never quite be trusted and doesn’t know when to stop talking.

It's Official! Star Wars Is Planning a Special Comeback For Doctor Aphra
Doctor Aphra is returning to Marvel’s Star Wars comics this June with an all new series, “Star Wars: Doctor Aphra -- Chaos Agent.”
A prime example of her less-than-authentic lifestyle is the fact that she only obtained her doctorate through fraud, blackmailing her doctoral mentor. When it comes to loyalty, one never quite knows what to expect from Aphra, as she has worked for Vader (usually because she knows complying with his orders will save her life). But she has also worked alongside various of the rebellion, including Luke Skywalker, whom she will be teaming up with yet again in a new comic coming this June called Doctor Aphra--Chaos Agent, by Cherish Chen and Gabriel Guzman.
The Scourge
The Star Wars Version Of Ultron, Only More Evil
“The Scourge” (or simply Scourge) is a terrifying Nihil weapon from the High Republic era, first introduced in 2022 in the one-shot comic, Revelations--written by Marc Guggenheim, with art by Salvador Larroca, Pere Pérez, Emma Kubert, Justin Mason, and Paul Fry. Scourge has the ability to turn living beings into monstrous, crystalline entities and robotic minions, as seen in the 2023 crossover event, Dark Droids--written by Guggenheim and Charles Soule.
The Dark Droids storyline features Scourge infecting anything that is even partially robotic (including Darth Vader) with his own will and programming, using them to carry out acts of violence. Scourge is an ancient, centuries-old executioner who bides his time until he is able to expand his power. With the massive success of villains exactly like him in live-action smash hits--like Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron--Scourge is a timely character for the digital age.
Momin
A Tortured Artist Who Tortures
Created by Charles Soule and Giuseppe Camuncoli in Darth Vader (2017-2018), Momin is a twisted artist obsessed with the dark side who would be a chilling and pure evil addition to live-action. From a young age, Momin’s violent tendencies and lack of empathy were evident, which eventually led to his incarceration. However, he was freed by a Sith who took him under her wing and tried to train him as her apprentice. Momin, displeased at the idea of being considered under anyone’s guidance, murdered his master and inherited her artifacts, including a helmet that he would eventually infuse his spirit into.
From a young age, Momin’s violent tendencies and lack of empathy were evident, which eventually led to his incarceration.
Momin was obsessed with the idea of using the dark side to create art, and was eventually killed by the Jedi when he attempted to incinerate an entire planet to capture the look of peril on the citizens’ faces as an expression of art. Momin’s spirit lingered inside the helmet as a dark relic for centuries until the fall of the Republic when Palpatine took control of the Jedi Archives. Momin was the architect behind Fortress Vader, guiding Vader through multiple attempts to create the perfect structure. Momin’s inclusion in live-action would elevate any Star Wars project with a genuinely unsettling and frightening antagonist.
Avar Kriss
This Jedi's Unique Talent Would Be Unlike Anything Else In Live-Action Star Wars
The High Republic Era was the height of the Jedi Order, and no other Jedi was more well respected than Avar Kriss. Though Kriss was first introduced in Charles Soule’s Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren #3 in 2020, she took center stage in her first solo adventure in Charles Soule’s 2021 canon The High Republic: Light of the Jedi--the first novel set in this era of Star Wars lore. Avar Kriss embodies the ideal Jedi: comionate, wise, yet burdened by leadership.
But the most interesting aspect of Kriss as a character that would make a fascinating adaptation in live-action is her unique relationship to the Force and the resulting ability known as “Song of the Force.” Unlike any other Jedi, Kriss can sense the feelings and emotions of other Jedi as a melody within the Force. This allows her to connect to others on a telepathic-like level, making her as powerful as she is talented.
Avar Kriss’ depiction on the cover of Light of the Jedi bears a striking resemblance to Doctor Who actor, Jodie Whittaker. If Disney is looking for the perfect actress to bring this awesome Jedi to life, she is this writer’s humble suggestion.
Tarre Vizsla
Tarre Vizsla is one-of-a-kind in the Star Wars universe--a Mandalorian Jedi. This unique duality solidified his importance as a pivotal Star Wars character, as he managed to bridge the often-conflicting traditions of the Jedi and the Mandalorians. Because of his extraordinary life and his creation of the famed Darksaber, Vizsla left behind a legacy that went on to shape Mandalorians for centuries. The Darksaber became a potent symbol of authority among Mandalorians.

Before Lightsabers, Star Wars' Best Weapon Belonged to the Mandalorians, And We Want It Back
The Mythosaur axe is the Mandalorians' coolest weapons; introduced in the old Star Wars "Legends" canon, it deserves a prominent spot in current lore.
In the current live-action Star Wars canon--as seen in the Disney+ series, The Mandalorian and the animated series Star Wars Rebels--the Darksaber is so revered among Mandalorians that the separate and often times warring clans will come together without question and follow the person who wields the weapon as proud and united sons and daughters of Mandalore. A live-action adaptation of Tarre Vizsla and his history with the Jedi Order and forging the Darksaber, would give deeper meaning and significance to the already rich Mandalorian lore. A live-action adaption is even more timely, considering the events of season 3 of The Mandalorian, which depicted the scattered peoples of Mandalore reclaiming their beloved world by following Bo-Katan Kryze, current wielder of the Darksaber.
